Physical memory 69% of usage

Recommended Posts

Hello,

OK to cut a long story short, I've been off for a while after two operations and in the process of being off my main PC died and because I'm recovery from surgery I have not been out to get another PC because I cannot drive at the moment. I cannot build one because I cannot physically build one at the moment. Why not by a pre-made one. Yep thought of that as well, but I like to custom build machines and put in their what I know is going to last. (sorry I'm going off track, I apologise)

So I'm using my laptop which is about three years old and recently upgraded the memory to Crucial 512 x2 giving me a nice 1GB of memory, I've decied to run Windows Vista on my laptop which runs very well all the software works and it picked up all the hardware fine without any problems. The only problem I have is it's eating up loads of memory and I'm loosing memory like crazy for some reason, I mean 69% usage is just totally unsuitable. Now the burning question...? would I be better off upgrading the memory I have to 2GB instead of the 1GB I have at the moment. OK it's going to cost me around about ?80+ to upgrade tje memory, do you think this would be wise or would I be wasting my money.

What do you think, I would be gratful of some answers please because 69% of physical memory usage is going to drive me nuts.

Thanks

An update on my recent post, I have worked out what was causing the memory leak and cannot believe this was the cause of the 29%increase in memory usage was being caused by the Sidebar. Although the initial increase of 50% of mouseover the sidebar was resolved within beta testing Vista, I thought the memory usage of the sidebar was resolved as well. Now initially I was the one who brought this to the attention of Microsoft (although other people may have reported this as well, so I'm not stating I was the first one just in case anybody gets a little angry with me, for stating I was the first one :))

Now operating between 37% and 42% which I'm more happy with and comforable. instead of a 29% increase in memory, it's now great...
