GDC08: Microsoft and Epic announce Gears of War 2 for Nov. '08

In what could only be considered as good news for the franchise's cult following, Microsoft and Epic Games have announced their intention to give Gears of War another go. Despite only scraping by with a couple of million units sold, Microsoft is determined to help the motley bunch of macho marines break into the niche shooter market with an Xbox 360 sequel, Gears of War 2.

The game was officially announced by Epic's CliffyB during Microsoft's GDC keynote entitled, "A Future Wide Open: Unleashing the Creative Commnunity ... and then give them Chainsaws." The game will be coming exclusively to the Xbox 360 in November, 2008. We'll bring you more information as soon as we can get it.

Big careface from me, bought it for the xbox didnt like it, tried it on the PC and didnt like it their either. I'm a big UT fan and tend to like UT engine games in general they just have the right sort of feel to em but I honestly though GoW was the most overhyped POS game I've played in years.

Zero immersion, uninspired graphics and lackluster sound.

Sweet, I thought Gears of War was great so this one should be good. I wonder if they'll include the moves Marcus Fenix did in the teaser trailer; the chainsaw clash and the upside down chainsaw kill.

Dude, you posted in the wrong forum. This should go under "Jokes and Funny Stuff".

Cool. Hope they tone down the "lets duck behind this object while I'm trying to run away from something, leaving me in open view" a bit.

It must be opposite day in Rapture.

you cant be serious, the graphics are still better if not equal to top tier games like COD4 and those were released a year after...the sound? asjdfha;nbf;kad

I never said the graphics were bad, just boring. There are only so many shades of gray. Sound is all distant and hissy. Guns, explosions and speach.

I just didnt get this game. I know lots of people do and thats fine I'm glad you enjoy it but for me, it does nothing.

It must be opposite day in Rapture.

prime example of what the unreal engine is capable of.

the sound? asjdfha;nbf;kad

what does that even mean?

    • XBOX is at the end of its generational life cycle and wasn't selling much anyway. They need to figure out the pricing for XBOX Helios. However, I'm not buying the DRAM shortage with AI preferring HBM. I think it's industry gouging.
