Sp1 appeared in my windows update!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Yes it is true ... Nobody seems to know what's going on, or at least I don't.

I succesfully installed service pack 1 and I got to say the indeed fixed the file copy problem. But they still didn't fix the surround issue ... But hey this is what everybody was waiting for :-) So far so good ... Lets hope it stays that way!

I'm running a legal activated Windows Vista Business x64.

BY surround issue you mean sound? I dont think they are going to do anything about that are they? I mean its up to Creative and such to build working drivers for the new way sound is handled in Vista...direct sound and EAX are now a thing of the past. For the most part I am getting good 7.1 sound in Vista now with my X-FI card and OpenAL.

Remember, Vista SP1 has a staggered release based on hardware. Just because you have Vista x64, don't expect it to show up. A guy on another forum noticed it in WU a few days ago. x64 is an obvious first stage because with signed drivers, x64 is a more stable option.

i have brand new hardware from a year ago when i built my new PC and i can't see SP1 on windows update yet :(

although i have updates available to install, when i try to install them they install successfully but when i go to windows update again the same updates are available for download and install again, so maybe it's just my windows is messed up

i installed SP1 through windows update on my fiance's brothers computer and when the computer rebooted from the install it had numerous errors such as not being able to find operating system files and a few other things tried several things and even called MS they suggested reinstalling windows and not using a windows update.

recieved these code errors

0xC0000034

0xC0190003

0xC000021a

Never could resolve the issue just did a reformat and reinstall of windows. Managed to use a second computer to harvest the data off of it so it was not big deal but im glad to say i do not use windows so i do not have to worry about this sort of thing much.

Folder view bug as in it never remembers window placement or the view style? That stinks. That is horrendously annoying and makes it still feel like beta software.

btw. x64 Ultimate here and no update yet.

yep

im sick of it really

if htey didnt get it fixed for sp1..they wont get it fixed EVER

Does SP1 delete a load of files? Because I seem to have an extra 30GB~ free and I don't remember deleting anything!

Lawl

your not the first person i've heard saying that.

The view style and position of folders are remembered on my Vista RTM, except in rare occasions where the layout may be changed.

Vista has a feature called Automatic folder type discovery that automatically detects the contents of a folder and display the correct detail settings

Hey Solardog,

I don't have a creative card installed in my computer. I do have soundmax installed for Windows Vista x64. I installed the latest version. The issue I have is when I'm in Windows I can play every speaker through the configuration tab, but when I play sound in Winamp or Media Player there only comes sound through my 2 front speakers and nothing from the rear speakers. Is there any solution to this or should I wait for a driver update from soundmax?

    • Started implementing weapons! Here's a little sneak peek! 👀 Animation was done inside of Unreal Engine using Control Rig! Really useful tool, I don't have to go back and forth between Blender and UE, you can basically make tweaks while the game is running.
    • Keep in mind Intuit has lobbied like crazy to keep taxes complicated so they can continue to sell tax software. They also got caught hiding their legally mandated free version so they could release a second one that pushed countless people into charges they didn't need to pay to file. Intuit leads the charge on inventing problems so they can sell you the solution and disrespecting you in the process.
    • Oddly, there was a time that UFC games were culturally relevant, largely because of the graphics and gameplay that was different than the norm. But it seems like as the sport grew in popularity, gaming outlets stopped talking about the games.
