How to disable Auto Detect Settings proxy

Recommended Posts

I've searched and searched and haven't been able to find a definitive answer. I need to disable (untick) the "Automatically detect settings" in the LAN Settings dialog box for all users, without using Group Policy. I know it can be done with a simple registry key (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel\Autoconfig) but this is a per user setting, and I'm getting frustrated having to do this step every time someone new logs into a computer. I can't set it through GP either as I don't have access and other sites in our domain need a proxy.

Any ideas?

thanks.

Why dont you get with the people that do have access to Group Policy ;)

Its quite possible to assign settings to who needs them an not the whole domain.. So your using wanting autodect off has nothing to do with what the rest of the domain needs or wants.

But if your looking to make proxy settings per machine vs user

Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per user)
