Where can you get a qualtydesktop pc built other than yourself building it. I am not compfortable building a pc from scratch so who is the best vendor to build your pc other than dell or gateway which use inferior materials. I am more compfortable upgrading or replacing parts once my pc it is built. I also know what components I would want in the desktop

what will you be using your PC for? gaming? picture / video editing? a web server? e-mail and ms word?

and how much $$ do you have to spend on a PC?

DETAILS MAN, DETAILS!!

I will use it for gamming and in additional will use it to watch music videos, netflicks movies, , genaral web surfing, ms office and quickbooks, and copying music cds. Maybe I can spend $2500. Most important I want want my games to play at high quality settings and a decent framerate which I never had with with any of my pcs I got from gateway. I always had to upgrade my card or power supply. So I want the best nvidia dx 10 card out there, and a true intel quad core, pc 2 hard drives, 2 dvd rw drives, x- fi card sound card , fast memory and at least 4 gig ram. I still have speakers and my sony 19 inch trinitron monitor. The question is I dont know if i want 32 bit vista or 64 vit vista at this point

whoah... that's more like it :)

You do know that wherever you go, it will cost more than the parts alone.

My favorites are:

ibuypower.com

cyberpowerpc.com

I will take that in consideration. Can I get a decent gamming pc for $2,500 or am i just dreaming, Just a thought do you think it is better to get x box 360 for games and a non gaming pc.

xbox 360 is a better choice for gaming for me since i mostly play single player games. and yes, you can get a decent gaming computer for 2,500

if you live in the US use Newegg. i've been using them for years and never had anything but wonderful experiences there

i suggest you start with what CPU you want and what video card you want and build your system around that. if you are going to get 4GB of ram then get 64-bit vista.

well if you want the best = Falcon NW

but for $2500.00 - I think you could get a case w/ nothing in it.

VoodooPC - same as Falcon NW

oh...and. where in the world are you from ? I know you said youre in the U.S. - but with that kind of spelling and grammar ....sheesh

[just curious]

I am from Scarsdale NY which is in westchester county. So what kind of desktop pc do I get for $2500. Maybe I should get xbox 360 for games and buy a cheaper pc that is not so high end

Those intel processors and motherboards that they use are inferior to the ones the other brands use since the metal is different.

lol xD

I would offer to build it for u but i live in the UK :p slightly impractical...

$2500 will easily get you a good gaming rig, especially with your US prices (lucky arse, UK prices suck :()

For $2,500 you should be able to get a really nice system

At least 4GB of Ram, Quad Core CPU, and decent Graphic card

I really you should attempt to build your computer. I built my first one when I was 14. The hardest is installing the heatsink, but generally if you can use a screw driver and read/follow directions you'll be in excellent shape for the build.

If no one posts any type of part list, I'll try to do it either later tonight or some time tomorrow

from what i've read, they're owned by a single company. i've also seen a lot of complaints about them.

some other retailers include:

http://www.xoticpc.com/

http://www.avadirect.com/

http://www.jncs.com/

but you should consider building your own. it's not as hard as you think. (i taught my girlfriend in a matter of minutes. she then built a computer for herself and her brother.) you'll save a lot of money and you'll learn a lot during the process.

I would be willing to build it for you. I have built about 3 PCs over about 4 years and I know how to do a good wiring job for better airflow. I wouldn't charge much at all since I really just enjoy building PCs when I have the cash. If you want a business to build it for you, I would also say cyberpower would be a good choice, as the prices are generally pretty good.

I'd do it for you if you live in the CT area... you should really do it yourself though man, you can post the stuff here and we should be able to tell you weather or not x case will fit with x mobo / psu ect... It's really simple once you have it all infront of you and you just start putting stuff together until everything is in the case.

I'd also build it for you, if you live in the metro Atlanta area. I've never bought a "off the shelf" computer in my life, I've always chosen to build my own. Building them yourself is not that hard, everything is color coded or keyed so it will only go in one way (unlike the old days), plus many people here will gladly help you get it up and running.

I agree you should give it a try yourself. The heatsink and then installing all the software is the hard parts. If you've reformatted before and have no trouble installing OSs the heatsink isn't as scary as it looks either. I built my first a little over a year ago. Fixing to build my second for my brother. If I can do it pretty much anyone can.

One bit of advice though. Some parts you have to register within 30 days or you don't get the warranty. That means you have to visit several parts websites and register separately. At least that what I had to do.

well roll your eyes all you want but what he said is correct -- gateway/e-machine (same company) use parts that are inferior and did not pass certain QC tests that "better" companies would not accept.

Basically part123 goes to QC, it passes - ASUS, BFG, MSI all the other "top tier" companies buy those from the perspective manufacturers. then part234 fails, then goes to 2nd-tier companies for less money, giving them the ability to sell that "same" part for lesser money. part345 fails the 2nd tier QC test and then the price drops alot and crap companies like Compaq, e-machine, AS Rock, ECS, all of those "off-brand" companies jump on those and get them dirt cheap , hence enabling Compaq & emachine to sell a new $250 desktop....

so roll your eyes all you want , but thats how this industry works

I would not recommend Ibuypower.com at all. My system with them has been incredibly mediocre, and filled with headaches. I had to contact the Better Business Bureau in order for them to replace a video card.

You are better off with a Dell, if you really do not want to assemble the system yourself.

Yeah I couldn't believe mindover recommended those companies .... its the equivalent of saying "I recommend getting Hyundai, Kia, Yugo, and Saturn "

those companies are complete sh*t - I hope he was kidding. I mean the company name should tell you enough - i buy power ?!?!? wtf

its like a car company named.....well.....ibuypower automotive - who in the hell is gonna buy from them ?

I think alot of them ARE the same company - and no different from Monarch Computer Systems - who is now defunt -

mindovermaster usually has smart things to say - maybe he is kidding

Unfortunately they were recommended to me, and I followed through with it. Their service is a joke. I'm sure there is worse, but it would take a special kind of fuc* up to manage a business that poorly. I felt like I was talking to a 7th grader the whole time.

I still kind of kick myself in the ass about it, and dream of the day when I will once again be able to do my entire system on my own. I learned my lesson the hard way.

    • The only reason I want to know where you from is because if you are not from the U.K, then why should you care what we in the U.K do or don't do? Racist I am not, I am fed up with the amount coming over here and feel they can come over here and think we need to support them. Do you know how much it costs this country to support these people coming over here? Even when we give them a place to live it is not good enough. We had a barge that was being used to house immigrants, oh but that was not good enough. A mate said to me at the time, when he was homeless, he would have been happy to live on the barge, instead of ending up sleeping on a bench on the beach. I am not scared to say what my family heritage is, unlike you who is scared to say where they are from or where they live. Father side U.S, mother side Wales, still have family living in the U.S. A mate who sadly died a few years ago, had a load of people from different races recording in his studio, I got on with all of them. Skin colour don't bother me, where they are from don't bother me. Religion don't bother me as long as they don't push it onto me and it is not crazy stuff. I am not religious. But if you are not living in the U.K, then why should you care if we are in the E.U or not? This the problem, too many people poking their noses into where it don't belong. But you believe what you believe, if you think I am racist, then be it, I really do not care. Just grow a pair
    • If he hasn't been able to figure that out, then why is he obsessed with tariffs? Because that's one of the most prominent tools to level the playing field when you have high cost of labor.
    • Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5102558, KB5095615 Setup and Recovery updates by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft released the newest preview update (C-release) under KB5095093. Alongside those, Microsoft also released new dynamic updates. For those who may not know, dynamic updates bring improvements to the Windows Recovery process in the form of Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) updates, which are also called Safe OS updates. The dynamic updates also affect the Setup file binaries in the form of Setup updates. These Dynamic Update packages are meant to be applied to existing Windows images prior to their deployment. Dynamic Updates also help preserve Language Pack (LP) and Features on Demand (FODs) content during the upgrade process. VBScript, for example, is currently an FOD on Windows 11 24H2. This time both recovery and setup updates were released for Windows 11. The company writes: "KB5095186: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, version 26H1: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to the Windows recovery environment (WinRE). After installing this update, the WinRE version installed on the device should be 10.0.28000.2335. KB5102558: Setup Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to Windows setup binaries or any files that setup uses for feature updates in Windows 11, version 24H2 and Windows 11, version 25H2. KB5095615: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2: June 23, 2026 This update makes improvements to the Windows recovery environment (WinRE). After installing this update, the WinRE version installed on the device should be 10.0.26100.8737." Microsoft notes that both the Recovery and Setup updates will be downloaded and installed automatically via the Windows Update channel.
