Data Recovery..

Recommended Posts

Got a old DOS FAT16 or FAT12 box that was running windows 3.1 on a 160 mb hard drive, the person using it hasn't backed up his data in 5 years..

And as such his data file has become corrupted.

Is there a chance I can find some kind of .tmp file with all his data or any easy fix idea on data corruption he was using some custom application called M.Y.O.B.

Get Spinrite.

The problem could be a hardware failure. If so, Spinrite can usually fix it long enough to get the data off it.

If the problem really is data corruption, than hook the drive up to another box and get a good image of the drive. That way you can try different techniques against the disk to try to get the data off. A good drive image tool is Drive Image XML (name of the software).
