Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Discussion Thread

Mine is still on "Order Placed". :( I'm not giving up hope, though. Play.com seems to have been on the blink for the past month. I ordered GTAIV off them. It kept jumping to different stages. Up to "Processing", then to "Packing", than back to "Processing", then a few days later, I got an email saying it had been shipped. 10 minutes later, it arrived on my doorstep! :D

My Jabra BT125 is doing this as well. It went from "Order Placed" to "Processing" to "Packing" in less than 30 minutes, then an hour later it went back "Processing". It's still there as I'm typing this.

well, I'm gonna give it till the end of the day and if its not dispatched I'm gonna cancel and change to gameplay or amazon.

edit: sod it, changed to gameplay.co.uk, fair enough 1st class postage is 99p extra but they seem more reliable for release date delivery. Play.com has let me down and it arrived a day late a few times.

Oh Audio, why didn't you answer my question, are you avoiding me on purpose, have you ignored me! I can't live like this /Cut wrist.

( Sorry :shiftyninja: )

Truth is I would rather not answer it, not because there is, or there isn't. I'm not saying either way. Not many days left!!

I got me a silver DS3 off of Ebay the other day just for MGs4 and to always have a charged backup controller for longer sessions. :p

I have ordered a DualShock 3 controller aswell just for MGS4... Ceramic White is looking so awesome :p

Woo, 3 days!

Can't wait. :D

I'll walking in to town at some silly time to pick it up, wonder if Game or anyone are having a midnight launch, doubt it though.

Plus I would be on my own. *makes sad face*

Well I've gave in and ordered it from gameplay.co.uk, I didn't see no out of stock warnings which is suprising.

Konami said there would be plenty of copies available for launch so there would be no chance of running out.

Check my post on page 60 ;)

Already did ;)

Guys stay off Digg, they just spoiled something big that really ticked me off, i didnt see the video but just by the title itself i can imagine what it is, damn them :(

sorry to hear that. hope it didn't ruin the whole game for you...

I'm going to stay offline as much as I can until it's release, so nobody can spoil the game for me.

Naa, it wasnt anything HUGE, just one of those things that would have surprised me if i saw it first while playing, now im gonna be expecting it.

Link me, then delete the link in a few mins. Just an http link, no one on here needs to click it.

I'll tell you if it's truthful, and how severe it is if it's true.

I'm staying off all community sites involving comments and not going on any fo the forums besides Neowin till it comes out.

I made the close mistake of reading Kotaku comments, slowly reading through i read something along the lines of "Snake..."

At which point my mind shut down and i closed the tab, and now i am avoiding all comments everywhere, and no sites where something someone can post can hit the front page of the site.

Dont click or hover over the text if you want to remain spoiler free....

Link used to be here... deleted..

Like i said, just by the title i already know what it is, so im gonna be expecting it, i know its not anything big, but now it wont be as special as if i had seen it in game...

BTW, i didnt click the link on digg or even read the comments....

Also, the link on digg links to PS3fanboy.com i think, so stay off that site too, while you are at it, disconnect your computer from the internet... i wish i could

Ah right, you can delete it now.

That's already been spoiled in this topic by Hanif :(

And yes it is worthwhile NOT knowing it before playing, as it happens at the exact right point it should :p

Lol!

It nice to see people put the effort in so some don't get the game ruined by other people.

I'm just happy there aren't any asses on Neowin.

And I think Audioboxer has been, how to say this, great considering, I can just bet he's slowly dying inside to talk about the game. :D

I was going to say, I know you were going to wait till we got the game before saying anything, but when we get the game, by the time we finish it it probably wouldn't be till late friday anyway and wont want anythign spoiled, so I was going to suggest playing through with us on thrusday or atleast waiting till the weekend before the spoilers start appearing.

    • I am not a US citizen nor a Trump fan. Respect to both left and right. But I will, for the sake of fun, predict something for my own. There will come a day when the US and China will collide like titans ( over Taiwan or anything else ). Then, on that day, some people in this comment section will realize how good an idea it was to become independent in areas like that. ( Or atleast try )
    • Microsoft Edge gets tons of security features, including AI model that can see your screen by Usama Jawad Microsoft Edge may not be the most popular browser out there, but it does receive quite frequent updates that sometimes bring surprising new features and axe others that are not as popular. Now, Microsoft has detailed some of the new security enhancements that it has introduced in Edge for Business, typically used by commercial customers. Microsoft has emphasized that security features are baked into Edge for Business and offer native integration with security and governance tools like Defender and Purview. Browser sessions are governed by default on managed devices but can also be governed through dedicated work profiles on unmanaged devices. An important aspect in this area is controlling the use of shadow AI. We have talked about this before, but it essentially restricts employees from using unsanctioned AI apps through data loss prevention (DLP) policies, with Edge redirecting them to trusted AI services like Microsoft 365 Copilot. This feature, available as a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) license, ensures that confidential data never exits AI boundaries set by your organization in Purview. Additionally, Microsoft also has strong DLP policies for contractors. Contractors leveraging a Entra ID-joined work profile provisioned by their contracting company on a device managed by their actual employer can be restricted from downloading files locally. In such scenarios, the file is saved on the contracting firm's OneDrive rather than being downloaded locally. Another useful Edge security feature disallows copying and pasting from unmanaged locations and apps. Similarly, DLP policies can be configured at a granular level to restrict screenshots or downloading of files from certain locations. In the same vein, IT admins can block the installation of extensions, hosted apps, themes and scripts, and control if users can install extensions from external locations. They can also enable the installation of specific extensions and allow users to request access to certain extensions, so that they can be managed on a case-by-case basis. Finally, Edge for Business now has an on-device AI model that uses computer vision to see what's on your screen and block potentially malicious content immediately. This does not rely on site reputation, as it simply monitors what is being displayed on your screen, which means that it is effective against malicious content that takes over your screen and employs scareware tactics. Since this is an on-device AI model, it does use your system's resources, so it's enabled by default only on devices with at least 2GB of RAM and four CPU cores. You can find more details in the Microsoft Mechanics video here.

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
