They were almost "giving away" old 15" LCD's at work today, so I picked one up. Of course it didn't quite work with Shift/Gutsy, which was a bit disapointing, and I really didn't want to have to spend ages messing with xorg.conf....

In a moment of inspiration, I ran the Hardy Alpha 6 CD, knowing that it had a newer version of xorg. I was able to get the monitor working perfectly using just the GUI tools. So I copied the resulting xorg.conf file over to my Shift installation, and what do you know... works like a charm! :p

Just recently installed Gutsy on an old machine, and I'm in love. While I won't give up my XP PC, I love the fact that I have two good OS's to work with.
