I'm using IE8 now.. actually like it.. just so many pages I view still either break or are worse than they were before... visit woot.com lately?? LoL.. if it's displayed like mine should be funny.. Oh and the quoted text... that's the error I got viewing this page to post a reply.. GO IE8!!

Yea, I don't get it. If it's "Standards Compliant" by default, then why does so many sites render incorrectly, but in the other 3 browsers (Firefox, Opera, Safari) there's no problem?

I think IE8's rendering engine isn't fully cooked up yet .. just wait for other betas then RCs

There are sites that use little hacks to get previous IE browsers to display web content correctly. Since IE8 is now better with web standards these little hacks are not needed anymore but they are still thrown at IE8 to display.

I agree, ie8 need to be fix it and I hope that by the time is completed it would pass without problem the acid 2 test. I don't think microsoft is interested in pass the new acid 3 test.

OK, but websites that are rendered fine in every browser I have (FF, Opera, IE7) just don't render correctly in IE8.

I don't know why I have the horizontal scrollbar for some reason... I don't see an option for it anywhere.

Another minor cosmetic thing: everytime I open a new tab my locked toolbar messes up, too.

IE8 is between a rock and a hard place, It's being sent bad code by some sites, because they assumed it was a bad browser, and other sites are sending it good code but also sending it hacks because they assumed it was a bad browser.

The "Surfin' Safari" for WebKit is a good example (they might have fixed it since), It renders fine in Firefox, Safari, Opera, IE7, etc., but breaks in IE8, because it's being sent IE7 hacks (only thing that makes it work in IE7), If those hacks were disabled it should render fine.

Can anyone else get to Windows Update in IE8, it's saying to me, that I must use Internet Explorer 5+ yet I am :p

I'm having trouble with it myself - Explorer crashes when trying to use Windows Update.

Does anyone have a problem that webpages keep "blinking"?

Sounds like a Flash/Graphics driver problem.... if a restart doesn't help, i'd suggest updating to the latest graphics driver for your computer, make sure you also have the newest version of flash..... Most likely its the graphics driver, though..... I've had this on poor graphics drivers b4.

Anyone here have the same problem as me? Let me explain. I installed IE8 when it came out, played around with it for about half an hour, then decided I didn't want it, do I thought I'd just System Restore back to before it was installed, but after I did it, IE was FUBAR. Luckily, I had the IE8 exe still on my desktop, so I reinstalled, but I'm stick with it now. Anyone know how to safely uninstall it and get back to IE7?

Removal Information

Windows XP

Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Click "Windows Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1" -> Remove. Your computer will revert to IE7 or IE6 (depending on the latest version you had on your computer before trying IE8 Beta 1) and previously installed security updates.

Windows Vista

Control Panel -> Programs -> View Installed Updates -> Click "Windows Internet Explorer 8" -> Remove. Your computer will revert to IE7 and previously installed security updates.

To Those Wanting to Try IE8 Beta 1

Please keep in mind that IE8 Beta 1 is for web development purposes, not for surfing the web on a regular basis. There are many changes in the rendering engine. Many websites will appear incorrectly. IE8 Beta 1 was released so those websites could be updated. IE8 Beta 1 will probably also be slower on your computer than IE7. You should only download IE8 Beta 1 if you want to update a website or you're curious enough about the changes that you'll risk a slower browsing experience where many of your favorite websites will appear incorrectly.

    • You can use MCT to create an updated ISO and then use Rufus to create the bootable USB.
    • low latency mode is still bugged and causing bootup times slow to a crawl. To fix, you have to disable the feature with vivetool. Seems as though it's not rolled out to a lot of people yet since I've only been able to find only a handful of people that are having issues.
    • I would recommend the Nothing 2a. The battery life is awesome, 2 or 3 days without going into battery power mode. The only thing that I've been looking into recently is that it doesn't "support" Graphene OS. I'm pretty sure there is a way, I just need to do some more looking.
    • You'd have to show me an example of a listing that says Gen 1, usually i'd expect that to mean Snapdragon Gen 1 (a type of chipset, which the Pixels don't use). Pixel 7 - White - 128gb - Unlocked - 85%+ battery - Grade B+ - $159 with free delivery - https://www.ebay.com/itm/398046617206 Pixel 7 - Obsidian - 128gb - Unlocked - 80%+ battery - Very Good - $157 with free delivery - https://www.ebay.com/itm/355617734563 Both look to be sold by companies with good feedback, dealing with refurbished phones and state the phones are unlocked with a clean IMEI. Obviously I can't vouch for either company though, but the listings look good in my opinion.
    • Because Chrome is doing it. And no one said anyone had to update immediately. That's silly. They could update every day for all I care as long as it's fast, and the next time the browser restarts, you're good. And the basic point is not to tee it up for bigger updates. As it is right now, all the windows I had open reopen anyway except inprivate.
