[Official] Grand Theft Auto IV

GTA4 has been leaked :) Great news but those who dont have a 360 would like to know a bit about the game. Is it good? Is it better than SA? Little details etc.

PLEASE do not post any links to the leak seeing as Neowin will close the thread and those who are intrested in details about the game will have their fun ruined.

PS: If you say something about the plot use the

Because Rockstar/Take 2 is one of the few great developers left, and because they've put so much effort into making GTA4 which seems like its going to be GOTY tbh, if not one of the best games ever made (pure personal speculation) I don't support downloading this at all. Spend some goddamn money on it and show your support for a great dev and a great game.

I dont agree that this is the correct thread to talk about if piracy is correct or not. Lets just stick to some screenshots, details about the game, gameplay, etc. Leave the pro/antipiracy for another thread please :)

But the thread is about the game being pirated is it not?

The leaked version is a PAL version.

lolz if its the aussie version :p

In case anyone's thinking of downloading this, keep in mind that a few weeks after Halo 3, the Orange Box and COD4 were "leaked", Microsoft went on a HUGE banning spree.

If you're playing the game a week before release, you're going to pop up on Microsoft's RADAR for sure, not to mention that all 3 of the above mention leaks were NOT done properly and thus easily detectable by Microsoft anyway, you can be certain the GTA4 leak is the same (Hell, it's probably been leaked by MS themselves so they can get anyone tempted to try 2008's biggest game a bit early).

No, its a discussion about this game which has been leaked.

Please stop. You are going to ruin it for the ones that want to know about the game.

Will it ever be available for PC ? if so... when will it be ?

tks.

Nothing official has been announced but next year you will problably see GTA4 on your PC :)

if the monday delivery contract is true, Game sure are preparing early as my copy is classed as picked + packaged and awaiting shipping and i have been charged for it so lets hope they ignore the monday delivery :p

think I read earlier that game were preparing shipments early to all go out on monday to stop there being delays in sending out.

MS can't really ban for playing early.

The game is available to buy in some french/german shops it's reported, and there's even people in the UK selling it on ebay.

It'll be frustrating for them, as they'll see an unrealistic spike in people playing, but if they ban, they'll take out innocent people as well.

Halo 3 caused bans due to the first leak being by an everyday person who ripped the game incorrectly. Orange Box was also ripped incorrectly. I dunno about COD4.

i wouldnt personally expect GAME to send copys early.. as i do know its very looked down upon selling a title early etc in that area of the business as that is what they specialise in... if anyone i would expect i dunno amazon? hmv? possible play?

I'm pretty certain the only stores that would sell early are the mom and pop kind of set ups. there are heavy fines for breaking street dates.

    • I like the show more options. The only problem with it is that it's not always in a consistent spot in the menu. If the copy/paste/cut, happens to show on top, then more option is the last in the menu. But if copy/paste/cut happens to show on the bottom, then more options is before the copy/paste/cut. But I do like the more options because it hides the stuff that I rarely use. But I would like to choose what it is or isn't hiding. That would make it better.
    • I wonder if "put it back the way it was for decades" ever crossed their minds? 🤣
    • Rescind the stupid "Show more options" in context menus and just give us the full menu instead of adding more steps to get to what we want. The "simpler by default" makes me think they'll go in the opposite direction. Every context menu should have a configure button so you can pick and choose what options should be shown, I know you can do that with some registry fu but that shouldn't be required.
    • This is why competition must exist. Finally, pressure is mounting on Microsoft to move in the right direction.
    • Microsoft is making Windows 11's context menus faster, simpler, and configurable by Taras Buria Five years ago, Windows 11 introduced redesigned context menus, offering users a simpler, more modern design. However, customers quickly discovered that the new menus leave a lot to be desired. Many are unhappy with performance (they are really slow), while others dislike the double-layed design, where many options are hidden behind the "Show more options" button. In addition, over the years, menus became cluttered and overloaded. While Microsoft has already fixed plenty of pain points across Windows 11, context menus remain mostly unchanged. Fortunately, Microsoft is finally listening. Marcus Ash, Design and Research Lead for Windows at Microsoft, responded to a tweet on X, confirming that the company is working on fixing Windows 11's context menus. Reworked context menus are supposed to be faster, simpler by default, and "configurable to what you use most." What the latter means is unknown, just like whether Microsoft plans to keep the classic menu alongside the modern one, but according to Marcus, the wait should finally be over soon, as he promised to "share our approach soon." Improved context menus will most likely appear first in Windows 11 preview builds in the Experimental Channel. While we wait for Microsoft to release them, you can try fixing context menus on your PC with a simple tool called Windows 11 Context Menu Manager. It lets you disable entries you do not need, not only cleaning up context menus, but also making them significantly faster. Microsoft has already improved Windows 11's Start menu and taskbar, so hopefully it will address user criticism of the context menu as well. Stay tuned for new Windows 11 preview builds, which usually arrive every Friday.
