[Official] Grand Theft Auto IV

Recommended Posts

Well normally on "games" when you go somewhere you're not meant to go, there is a physical restriction in the way.

Such as an invisible wall that is impassible.

There are barriers, but no invisible walls. On foot, you cannot generally get around those barriers. However, if you jack a helicopter and fly over, then yeah, the police don't like that lol.

who, and where?

Back on topic, had an email from, game the other day saying they were processing preorders for GTA IV early so they could get everyones out for release date, and according to my account mine was processed on the 24th :D hope it arrives before release day, all my preorders with them have arrived a day early

Some spoilers below check em if you want, if not wait until Tuesday.

- you can travel the city via the subway system you can view from three cameras including an onboard CCTV camera, two external fly by cameras also.

- Train rides are free! :)

- Be evil to innocent people, and people walking by will turn on you and gang up against you, same if you jack a car, a member of the public may pursue you.

- the mobile phone in game, you can set its ringtones, and change its profiles just like a real mobile phone, for example, i placed it on Vibrate and my 360 contoller began vibrating when i recieved a call! frickin cool or what!

- Weather is dynamic as is the Day and Night Cycle. Rain/Fog etc

- Cars have two headlights mode, Normal Night Lights, and Main Beams, these are considerably brighter as the normal lights in use by cars as default at night are kind of dim

- Save games take place in your apartment, Niko goes to sleep and rises to the sound of an alarm clock.

- Games are now in game too, you can take contacts or girls who you take out for dates, to Bowling / Darts / Casino or Strip Club, each person you meet has a favourite and least favourite activity

- An achievement is to get 180 in darts within three throws.

- Another few achievements relate to ingame mini games. (it feels a bit like PlayStation Home's mini games idea)

- The second island is shut due to a terrorist scare, the brooklyn bridge is sealed off with police and concrete road blocks, although the second island looks spectacular

- Radio stations are aplenty in game, can be turned off aswell.

- Ringtones can be chosen for your mobile phone, and your mobile phone can also be switched off, the story continues when it is turned back on again.

- Strip clubs are kinda cool places to hang out if that interests you i guess.

- Have not noticed a Fire truck yet, no idea if they are in game.

- Ambulances are kind of wobbly to drive

- Anyone commiting a crime will be pursued by police, it works on a radar system, to escape police get out of the flashing zone on your HUD.

- Fuel prices in game seem reasnoble.

- You replenish your health from Hot Dog stands and Burger Joints in the City, you buy a hot dog for $1 and your health is boosted.

do you need to refuel in the game?

Plenty of cars pull into refuel, including police, there are even queues at fuel stations, as for actually refuelling your car, i have absolutely no idea, i would educate a guess at no, due to the fact that i have not seen a fuel meter as i drive around liberty city.

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with adblockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Opera Air'. It still has some bloat, but nowhere near as much as Brave browser, for example. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. I have a system wide Adblocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the the web browser, but over the whole thing. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt adblocker because of that.
