Parallels Desktop vs. Boot Camp

Recommended Posts

Well you can't really compare a virtual machine to a native solution. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

You can run both windows apps and mac apps simultaneously with parallels but you sacrifice speed. you get the full use of your hardware's performance with bootcamp but you miss out on the 'mac' experience and OS.

If you want a virtual machine solution, go with VMware Fusion. It's actually cheaper on an educational discount ($39 vs. $79,) and overall, I just find it runs faster.

Anyway, Boot Camp is great if you want to run, say, Windows Vista completely natively so you get Aero Glass, etc. But I find a virtual machine more useful.
