Webby
Which one is better? Parallels freezes on me and crashes sometimes. :o Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/625649-parallels-desktop-vs-boot-camp/ Share on other sites
User6060
Well you can't really compare a virtual machine to a native solution. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. You can run both windows apps and mac apps simultaneously with parallels but you sacrifice speed. you get the full use of your hardware's performance with bootcamp but you miss out on the 'mac' experience and OS. 5Horizons
If you're having problems with parallels and want to use a virtual machine, give VMWare Fusion a try. Quillz
If you want a virtual machine solution, go with VMware Fusion. It's actually cheaper on an educational discount ($39 vs. $79,) and overall, I just find it runs faster. Anyway, Boot Camp is great if you want to run, say, Windows Vista completely natively so you get Aero Glass, etc. But I find a virtual machine more useful. Phalesafe
I have both Parallels 3 and VMware Fusion. VMware Fusion is ace compared to Parallels. But yes nothing can compare to running in native mode. If you need to transfer files between the Boot Camp partition and your mac just get a NTFS add on for your mac. CPressland
Parallels is a pile-o-crap, if it's gaming or 3D rendering you want to do then BootCamp is the way to go, if it's just running a few windows applications the VMWare is the way you want to go Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/625649-parallels-desktop-vs-boot-camp/#findComment-589271468 Share on other sites
temple_treefrog
I used VMware Fusion on Tiger (with Windows XP SP2). It worked perfectly. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/625649-parallels-desktop-vs-boot-camp/#findComment-589272619 Share on other sites

NeoTrunks
NTFS 3G Yup. I use that to mount my bootcamp partition and it works flawlessly. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/625649-parallels-desktop-vs-boot-camp/#findComment-589272651 Share on other sites
