Suggest a cheap TwonkyMedia NAS

Recommended Posts

My biggest grief to date with the xbox 360 is the fact that it cannot stream information from my NAS.

I have tried programs like Orb, Media Player 11 and Tversity but i found them to be bloated and difficult to set up. A friend of mine suggested Twonky Media... to my surprise it worked like a charm, found all the content on my NAS and served it to my 360 - perserving the menu structure and all.

I was about to buy the licence (?30) but saw that they have integrated the software into a few Network Attached Storage units. Why buy the licence if the NAS bundles with the software is fairly cheap too - It would eliminate the need for my PC to be on also.

So... What NAS units come with this software?

The cheaper the bette:p:p

even tho it doesn't really answer the question above, some routers now have usb ports and media servers built in. The Linksys WRT350N/600n have this feature and others.

I've also seen other NAS drives, i think DLink that had Media Server options built in. There still a few out there but i can't think of them right now :)

this has been something i have wanted for so long... i didnt think it would be possible to have NAS work as a media Server without the PC being on.

Anyone who knows of one would be great to me also:)

Have a look at this one...

Not too expensive and has the twonky software built into it.
