Vista: hacking 'explorer.exe' with Resource Hacker

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I use Vista Home Basic (which may be the problem) and am trying to get into the stringtable of explorer.exe through reshacker.exe; however, when I open it up, the "string table" director does not appear as it did when editing explorer.exe in Windows XP. I have seen tutorials and screenshots on the web showing explorer.exe opened up in ResHacker within an interface that is obviously Vista (however, with the Aero interface and thus not likely Home Basic)

I am using ResHacker 3.4.079, which I believe was the last release.

As you can see from the included screenshot, the "STRINGTABLE" option is nowhere to be seen. Any ideas of what else I can do, or what might be my problem?

Thanks,

rts
