Third attempt at site design.

Question

Here is the home page. I will upload the other 5 pages when they are completed to my liking. This is a site I was tasked to design for my Information Design class... oh you can just read it on the page.

since you won't be coding it, the design will benefit a LOT if you lined up all your text vertically, so there's no mismatch between sections. I don't remember what it's called but everyone in print does it.

the head is lacking a little spark to it, the level of simplicity is good, but it doesn't have that professional feel to it.

and the other thing that really stands out is the picture boxes, they could do with a lot more work, right now it just doesn't fit right into the rest of the design.

You might also want to play around with different styles for the footer, something to mirror the header, perhaps, play around with it and see if any looks good (I can't tell just by imagining them).

That's about it

I don?t like the diagonal text for News Jobs and Events and the other diagonal text (Newest Brush Set, Featured Artwork and Newest Tutorials) kind of looks like something from a department store catalogue.

However I like the top (header section) and content panel layout.

Well, I felt like I would play off that triangle thing I made at the top and put some diagonals in there. I also thought that orientation would stress those areas a bit so people would look there. The misaligned text wasn't really intentional, it was more of a preview of how the content would look rather than an exact replication of the site (might fix it though, thanks for the suggestion).

And about the 1990's look. I normally go for very depth oriented, 3D, complex designs. This time though, I wanted to try something more flat and basic to see if I could do it well.
