EISA configuration partition?

I performed a complete reformat recently and re-installed my OEM version of Vista HP.

Is there any way I can prevent these partitions (EISA and System) being created or are they pretty much included in the OEM package?

That partition contains your HP system restore files. If you delete it you will never be able to restore your computer to it's factory installed OS and software using the restore utility, unless you have a full set of restore discs also. If you do have the discs and they recreate the partition whenever you use them you can just go ahead and delete it probably, then resize your main partition to reclaim the space. You could also use a regular Windows CD to install, but it won't include the HP software and drivers that came with your PC.

Could I do that and just use the OEM key to install?

I don't think OEM keys will work with retail discs. You might call HP and see if they'll send you an OEM CD.

Will validate but won't activate. You'll have to call MS to activate it.
