Original Vista Aero Theme with flat toolbars

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get hold of an original Vista aero theme with flat toolbars only...such as the one below. Thanks for any help. I looked at DeviantArt and some here...can't find it... Just Aero with this mod only. But everything stays the same.

Thanks omganinja, but I'm still a bit confused about the whole reshack thing. I'll try to figure it out though. Thanks for the help.

If you can upload the orginal areo VS I'm happy to do it for you, I modded mine and didn't back it up.

Why would you wanna do that though? It looks dog ugly.

yeah,I mean, MAYBE if it had been a nice blue shade instead of the ****ty grey, it looks totally misplaced, like a remnant of classic.

if you want that, you may as well just change the whole GUI to classic.

Oh man, omganinja, I would totally appreciate that. Do you mind doing on the one by psycob, the one without the icon? Here's the link below.

By the way, I really like your SquAero theme. I've been using that one from time to time too. Awesome job on that one. Maybe you could make one wihtout the icon haha...kidding. Great job.

wtf? Its a 10 fold improvement from the ****ty blue gradient in aero.

Full agreement from me  . MS did a good job with the Aero Glass but everything else sucks. I'd love to see the control and widget designs from some of the cleaner XP VS's like mint or reluna appearing in some nice aero glass borders.

I've tryed to do this with all my themes (as I also hate the user picture) but for some reason the hex values in my aero file arent the same as in the one psycob has editted, maybe his version is from an old beta release or something, not sure.

Hey thanks, but the one from his file, already has the icon removed. I had a hard time with that too, but no need to edit to remove the icon as it's already been removed by him in his default file.

I think all you'll have to do is add that flat toolbar. I've been trying to add that flat thing for 2 hours and still can't get it. I'm glad you're doing it for me. Appreciate it.

omganinja, you are the man! it works perfectly. man, i gotta learn how to do this stuff. alright, now i got a really good working system. that silver thing really bugged, no matter how hard i tried to ignore it.

i'll try to find a tutorial and do one for the "windows standard" theme. i'm gonna try to remove that stupid icon with that. this is amazing. thanks again.

*BUMP*

I think he meant the same one, but in the classic theme.

Is there a version with the user icon? I tried to modify it with ResHacker but I get some permission error and i try to activate yours, it just wont work, I don't know what I missed. -- ideas?

If you PM me your e-mail address, I will *try* to send you my modified version (gray toolbars, but with the user picture still there). This place where I'm at blocks me from uploading the file anywhere

I made one with a slight gradient, but with the blue heavily toned down, for personal use. Here is a pic of the original, then my VS.

I'll post the vs somewhere if anyone's interested.

Please do! That would be great

    • You can enable the Nova redesign in Firefox 152, under about:config
    • As long as Manifest v2 extensions keep working. I always enable compact mode from about:config. I hope I won't have to switch to LibreWolf or WaterFox anytime soon.
    • Threads scales past half a billion users, brings deeper community and feed controls by Fiza Ali Meta has announced Threads crossing a major milestone of 500 million monthly active users. And, at the heart of this growth sits something simple: communities. From books to basketball, parenting to music, Threads says its rise has been powered by people clustering around shared interests and, in turn, giving the platform its identity. In response, the platform is expanding its Communities feature beyond beta and introducing a set of new tools designed to make participation easier and more engaging. A redesigned Communities Hub will now appear in the main navigation menu, allowing users to jump between groups without leaving their feed. Each community will also receive a distinct Community Icon, giving them clearer visual identity and making them easier to recognise across the platform. Then there’s Community Progress, which is a kind of live gauge showing how close a topic is to becoming a full-fledged community, alongside guidance on how users can contribute to its development. In addition, Meta is also expanding its Community Champions programme, recognising more users who actively contribute to community engagement. And then things go more local; Local Communities is already available in 100 countries, including North America, South America, Asia, and Europe but are now rolling out with native-language tags starting in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. The platform is also expanding Live Chats to more communities in the coming weeks, adding features such as co-hosting and the ability to quote moments directly into users’ feeds. Beyond communities, Meta is tightening the loop between users and their feeds. Earlier this year came "Dear Algo," a feature that lets people tell Threads what they want more or less of. Now it’s being paired with a new tool, "Your Algo." It allows people to adjust how frequently certain topics appear, with options lasting one, three, or seven days. Meta says these preferences remain private and can be managed alongside “Dear Algo” in a unified settings hub. The rollout begins in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Finally, the company says these changes are part of an ongoing effort to refine Threads based on user feedback and that further updates will continue as the platform evolves.
