Hi,

My second VS, below is readme...

Readme for b0se Classic Visual Style

-------------------------------

Version 1.0 (03.02.03 @ 22:37)

1. Its displayed as b0seClass since b0se Classic wasn't allowed in StyleBuilder

2. This *is not* designed to be used with a vertical taskbar.

3. I found myself using Windows Classic all the time, so I thought I'd make my own version...hope you like it!

4. I'm aware that the maximised caption text is shadowed, even when disabled this still apprears. Doubt you'd have noticed if I hadn't mentioned it :)

5. Thin taskbar

6. 6 colour variations

I've tried to create a skin that can be used for a long time without becoming boring, hence its very simple, let me know what you like / dislike!

Thanks for your feedback :)

I might make a flatter version actually, not just yet though I'll use this one for a bit and see what needs changing...

What do you think of the start panel program style (.NET style),

should this be kept or changed to a plain style (e.g. faint grey gradient)?

I'm in a split mind about this!

Thanks again for comments,

another comment:

startpanel looks good imho

but (im using the dark blue version), blue menu highlights on a grey menu looks a bit weird (but still good)

also, most buttons are beveled, but in for instance internet explorer the menu mouseovers are blue and flat. sort of doesent match the rest. nevertheless, my fave theme for a long time :D

tahoma: This is done because if I kept the highlight text black, its really hard to see when

you select text for editing (in any app, Word etc), since the dark blue highlight is very dark.

Nothing I can do about that I'm afraid :(

Same with the File etc menu's, for some reason they don't get skinned. Very annoying!

Glad you like the theme though :)

Dear Bose:

Great theme...

Now as for the shadow thing, this is how to fix!

Using "blue" as a example.

Blue/Values/General/Window/MaxCaption/Active...change from single to none...

You could also change perhaps.

Blue/Values/General/Window/Caption/Disabled...change from single to none...

Same goes for Inactive also...

Also i opened your theme and noticed you made button sizes blank..."example closeglyph9.bmp" did you know that if you edit the file "Blue.xml" and so forth for the other colours, that you can delete the lines that mention these pics, and thus deleteing them for good.

Once again great job...cheers spyglass :-)

    • You are clueless. The updates are done in the background so the next time you open Edge the updates are applied automatically. There is no need to close all your tabs. Just keep browsing like you normally do. Clearly you don't use Edge and are just one of those haters that complain for the sake of complaining.
    • I don't get this David. Can you explain it please.
    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
    • Now disable that stupid OneDrive backup request when Windows starts please. So unbelievably frustrating to only have “remind me later” instead of “no and never ask me again”
    • Hello, The Media Creation Tool is still at v10.0.26100.7019 from October 2025. Just looks like the backend has been updated. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
