Program to encrypt files with my fingerprint

Is there a Program to encrypt files with my fingerprint so if i want to open them i have to scan my finger print? Free! btw :)

Yep, my new Dell XPS M1530 has a finger print reader built-in, and I can encrypt files using it.

I have no idea if you can buy finger print readers stand alone and what not.

Does the manufacturer of the reader not provide you with any software?

The manufacturer of my fingerprint reader is called upek. Might be worth having a look at them. Doesn't look like their software is available for download, though.

I have a microsoft finger print reader, that uses digital persona. I can only login to windows and save passwords with the software it provides.

If it can save passwords, can it not save the password for a passworded&encrypted RAR archive? Try swiping your finger when you're at the password prompt to enter the password, after typing the password. I doubt this'll work though.

With me, I can only do that stuff for IE7&Firefox, not WLM/Steam, etc.

I'm not sure what else to recommended, other than having to purchase a upek product.

Well, technically I don't believe there is any software capable of "using your fingerprint to encrypt data." That is, nobody actually uses anything about your fingerprint to actually do the encryption. Instead, your fingerprint is accepted as valid identification to give you access to the private key which was used to encrypt the data.

One option available to you, assuming you aren't running a Home version of Windows, is to use the EFS file encryption support that is built-in to Windows. Then, because you can login to Windows using your fingerprint reader, you are in effect using your fingerprint to access your encrypted data.

I think that the digital persona software allows you to add programs that require passwords and it'll put the password in for you.

Don't quote me on that one, I havent looked into it much (even though I own a MS FPR)

I can right click on any file, and select "Add to new encrypted archive..."

Which brings up this prompt:

edit: After a bit of reading, the .uef or .ueaf file format is something created by upek and no doubt you need their software & hardware to use it.
