When I first played Halo 3 online, there were two gamertags playing:

i_h8_w0gs

p4ki_kill3r

Their language was terrible, they were rascist beyond belief.

They were only about 12 years old by the sound of their voices.

I contacted MS through the gamertag system, and filed complaints.

I was disgusted.

I hear this a lot more than racial slurs in Call of Duty 4. I believe it is to be an American problem, where if i'm playing with some british dudes, they never seem to get all homophobic nor racist.
Spot on. I am not saying racism doesnt exist over here in the UK, but its far less apparent. Its mainly due to every1 living on top of each other. You quickly get used to other races and respect them for what they represent. In the US you obviously have a lot more space resulting in areas where only white people are found, thus producing people with little knowledge of different ways of life and different cultures, who believe the stereotypes etc. Also these people are stuck in their old ways. You learn from your elders and if they show disrespect you are likely to show it to.

You shouldnt have to change your gamertag IMO. You should be proud of what you are and shouldnt have to hide it because of some immature, uneducated prick decides to insult you based on your race.

Edit: Also I think racism will increase on PS3 online once the younger gamers convince their parents to buy them a console etc. Coz ATM PS3 are mainly owned by older people who work and thus, can afford the hefty price tag. These older gamers are usually more mature and are less likely to be offencive.

Online racists/bigots are morons for the most part and I play into it. I almost ALWAYS use a handle that implies I am either a certain race, religion or I'm gay. Its hilarious to hear people dropping the N word at me or the F(ag) word or telling me to go crawl into an oven becasue I'm using a handle like, "Da_Jewish_Hornet", whatever...I just play dumb and pretend I'm offended, some people in game will actually get it, they will know I'm trying to make people look like idiots, but the morons never do get it and its laffo.

Sounds fun. Its kinda like bullying the bully, the only people that should be bullied. It also points out how stupid these people really are.

As i live in britain, here are some pointers.

Blame Terrorists.

Blame so called "No Go Areas".

Blame Unchecked Immigration over 30 Years.

Blame Immigrants recieving state benefits to live from Tax Payers Money.

Blame Immigrants being placed first for Housing rights over native citizens.

Blame them getting Medical Treatment ahead of people who actually pay into the NHS out of their NHS Contributions each month.

The list goes on and on and on.

In my view, yes there is racism and when that comes to violence its absolutely wrong in every sense, but i feel psychologically, if we see foreigners everywhere coming into our community were naturally defensive and protective as percieve them as a threat.

Its a natural reaction and probably goes way back to our ancestors and even primitive man.

Racism effects all colours and creeds.

And is more commonly ignored when its Black on White, where as when its White on Black the media rip you apart.

I call a black guy a racist slur and i'm done for, yet he calls me "White Trash" and thats "Accepted" by society as not being racist, when in fact, it is.

It has alot to do with your online user tag. Most people get the main idea on a player from there tag. Think of the difference and think about what you think when you hear these two tags.

I'm not ashamed of my race or anything, it's just when your playing online there's nothing to prove. So a simple and "general" ID is always best.

you missed one:

blame the daily mail/daily express for fantasizing about most of the above

lol i dont get the logic in blaming immigrants for the abuse Brittish born people get who come from a different ethnic background. I got called a Paki, then i got called an Arab. So no i dont blame Immigrants, i blame uneducated little lowlife pricks who cant tell the difference between a pakistani and an arab. People Who genuinly have hate for other races and hate which is not fuelled by the influx of immigrants coming into the UK.

Yes i believe there should be more checks on immigrants, yes i believe immigrants should not come into UK and get thier healthcare paid for and get benefits. But no that does not make me racist. I dont have hate towards them. I find it ironic how some people can be racist but when they go to the hostpital or to see thier local GP he is of an Asian origin. Makes me sick.

Little kids think its cool to be on xbox live and be racist i would dare one of them to say it to my face. Over the internet they think they are protected as no one can see them etc which is why they need to be held accountable somehow.

Not to be uncaring, but Get Over It, the racial slurs and stuff I hear constantly on COD4 online are the cause of mostly drunken idiots who have no self esteem of their own and suck at the game, so they call people names and pick fights because they are bored.

Now I'm not into racism in games because it's only a game and no matter what your gamertag is someone will find a reason to make fun of it, big deal. So if you don't take the slurs personally you won't feel that way as the persons on the other end of the game don't know who you are or what you do. If you let your feelings take over and regard it as a personal attack or an attack on your indiviual race, then you're going to have issues with online gaming well into the future.

Just my 3 Cents

I haven't encountered any online racism in cod4 for pc, but I pick servers carefully. If the server has decent admins that are on most of the time stuff like that doesn't really happen much. The only time I remember REALLY bad online racism was socom II on ps2, jesus friggin christ it was bad. I hate halo so I don't even know how bad that is lol. I am in a clan in CS:S so it has a well admined server.

Honestly I believe that people who make this racial insults just make them to **** you off and make you play worse. I for example make racial jokes with my friends and I would expect any black/asian/etc person to make white jokes around me and I would laugh at it. We cant take these things too seriously in 2008.

While I understand where your coming from and do have empathy for you I do have to say "Get some frikin' thicker skin man". It seems that in this day and age that society has to be P.C. (politically correct). Let's face it, people will say mean and hurtful things, maybe even dislike you, maybe just maybe even someone may say they hate you. It may be wrong for them to say it, and maybe it will bother you. However let's face it, throughout life you will always meet someone that is cruel, mean, or rude. That's what happens when you don't live in a void, ulness you want to but thats your choice.

I am not defending them in any way, but life being what it is and people being whomever they may be, will be the way they are. Ignore them, or feel sorry for yourself, whine or what not.

    • After enabling it in about:config, customize, density, compact; the toolbar/address bar gets smaller vertically. I enabled Nova, I notice the tab bar/title bar is a bit larger vertically now? Everything always becomes a waste of space.
    • Microsoft's Copilot Cowork now generally available with usage-based billing by Pradeep Viswanathan Back in March, Microsoft first revealed Copilot Cowork, a new agentic AI experience in Microsoft 365 Copilot through which users can assign tasks to AI to complete in the background. After testing the service with a limited set of customers in Research Preview for a few weeks, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork to customers in the Frontier program on March 30. Today, Microsoft announced the general availability of Copilot Cowork worldwide for Microsoft 365 Copilot customers. The company also highlighted that Cowork became the fastest-growing feature in the history of its Frontier program. Unlike regular Copilot Chat, Copilot Cowork can run complex, long-running, multi-tool tasks from start to finish in the cloud by using organizational context through Work IQ. When compared to Claude Cowork, Microsoft claims that Copilot Cowork will be 30% to 40% cheaper on average with its Microsoft 365 connector. For now, Copilot Cowork runs on Anthropic models, including Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 4.6. However, Frontier customers can now use GPT-5.5. Microsoft also announced Cowork 1, a secure fine-tuned model coming in the next few weeks, which is designed to handle everyday Copilot tasks at a lower cost. To access Copilot Cowork, a Microsoft 365 Copilot user subscription is required. Usage is billed separately through Copilot Credits, based on model use, context retrieval, tool calls, and runtime. Pay-as-you-go pricing is set at $0.01 per Copilot Credit. To offer IT teams full control over usage costs, Microsoft provides spending limits, usage alerts, user-level controls, reporting, and prepaid usage plans for organizations. Usage-based billing begins today. However, Frontier customers who used Cowork between March 30 and June 16 will not be billed until July 1, 2026. The Microsoft 365 Copilot app now includes a toggle to enter the full Cowork experience. Microsoft is also adding partner plugins, with Enosix, Harvey, LSEG, Miro, monday.com, Moody’s, Morningstar, S&P Global Energy, and TeamsMaestro available now. Adobe, Atlassian, Box, Canva, Databricks, and others are coming soon.
