[Official] Age of Conan

So is that a no or a yes? The only thing below min is cpu speed. Or is this one of those games where the only time it doesn't play like **** with 1fps and crap is if you are above the recommended?

I really don't care much about fps. I'm used to playing FFXI, WoW, and TF2 with less than 20 fps. Right now I'm using a 4600 still and have 7600GS on order. My average fps in WoW is like 10.

If your average FPS in WoW was 10, you will suffer until you upgrade.

Example:

My current rig in WoW on high settings Vsync turned off: 100-140fps

My current rig in AOC on high settings shadows disabled: 30-45fps

It eats graphics cards, even more so with shadows enabled until they fix it, you might be able to run it on the minimum settings i dont know.

Current graphics card is 4600. Will be upgrading to 7600GS here soon. Best I can get on AGP. Can't really afford to build a new computer till after I graduate from university in December.

With the credit crunch prices are surprising reasonable. I build a decent rig with only ?520 (inc case + speakers) running AoC on high with all shadows enabled at 50~FPS.

:o I still cant decide weather to get this game over Wow, its really really killing me.

I watched a pvp video of this game and I will say seeing someones arms and head getting cut of is a major tempt, but is this just a sort tearm thing were it looks cool now then dies out in a year or two?

In all honesty. Don't get it yet. PvP is a mess. PvE is a bigger neatly coiled turd.

Features simply aren't working and I feel like I'm paying for a beta test. 2-4 months down the line? Sure. No doubt it'll be great fun. But avoid it at the moment. I could give you two sides of A4 with issues on my class which should have been sorted in alpha.

Maybe try get yourself a guest pass to WOW and cross your fingers and hope that by the time that ends they have handed out guest passes to AoC so you can give it a try too.

For what it's worth, I prefer Conan

After a couple of days with this game I have to say I am enjoying it alot. The Hybrid singleplayer/mmo style is really good and enjoyable in my opinion. My only issue so far has been the FPS. Doesnt seem to matter what settings you put this game on sub-par FPS ensue. That being said theres areas where my FPS drops to 25-30 and its not too bad but with my rig it shouldnt be the case. That being said I would recommend this game for people in a month or two.

so I have heard thats why I just plan to have a lvl 20 of every class :p should occupy some time :p

That being said, upcoming improvements in the game are more quests and more voice overs for quest givers etc so they are certainly trying to expand on the tortage play.

Have you tried using Shadder Model 2.X in the advance settings? That on my hardware gained me arounf 5 - 10+ fps over using 3.0. Doesn't look as nice, but if your after performance it seemed to be the option to me that made the biggest difference.

Recently, the Testlive Server launched. Anyone with an active Age of Conan account can login and use it, and you'll get a glimpse of what future patches will contain. Previously, the test server has been limited to former beta testers, and it was under NDA. No more!

Quality Assurance staff and developers will be on the Testlive Server, giving you the chance to speak directly to them and relay feedback.

Funcom has thought of how to expedite the testing by adding special vendors that will allow you to level up your characters to various levels. This leveling process will also give you appropriate equipment for your level. These vendors will appear on Testlive in the next few weeks.

Ok, this all sounds great, but how do I access the Testlive Server? It's easy, make sure you have Age of Conan installed and patched to the latest version, then download the Testlive Duplicator Tool.

http://funcom.cachefly.net/DuplicatorTool.exe...

Once the tool is downloaded simply run the executable. Select the Source directory (This is where you have the Live client installed) and then select the Destination directory (this is where the Testlive Client will be installed). When the tool has finished go to the destination folder and run ConanPatcher.exe.

The Testlive forums will launch in the coming days.

Yeah the testlive server sounds interesting for the part of being able to checkout other classess at various levels although I dunno to some degree its kind of fun levelling up seeing what new stuff you get. But ppl have different styles I play characters I would like to play not because I think they might be overpowered or better atm.

The game certainly changes after you leave tortage but I dont think it greatly or vastly changes the problem is you can virtually level your character from 0-20 just by doing the destiny quests. Then from 20-30 you're on your own and MMOing it up so of course the gameplay will feel changed. That and the missing voice overs of course.

Still dont feel like I have done any grinding. I have cringed at some of the quests, ie kill 50 of this or collect 120 teeth, but surprisingly I finished them fine whilst off doing more fun quests so really havent felt like I am grinding yet. The game is still imbalanced in some areas, ie I should struggle to kill a lvl 26 ymir soccerrer when im level 33 but thus far few weeks in and enjoying it. The casters are even fun. I had heard the casting classess were too squishy and underpowered but they seem to be doing quite well and enjoyable, despite the fps being a bit low and the game code could definitely do with some optimisations, still loving the graphics on this thing.

It's one of the more enjoyable games of the last few years.

The graphics are very nice and the idea of having fatalities was brilliant. I can't say anything on the high end content as I'm not there yet, haven't had too much time to play lately.

After all these years of cartoon characters from WoW and the crazy gear they are throwing out there it's a nice change.

I would recommend it above WoW if you don't know which one to try. The problem with WoW is it's so simple you will keep playing just because it has a very low stepping stone. I'm glad AoC stepped away a bit from that idea.

As much as i love this game, they need to sort the patches out. Today for example, a few minor changes and most of those were quest name changes. There are still a lot of glaring bugs which take the fun out of the game. Having said that, lvl 49 necro still rolling along happily.

I just wish one of these big mmo type games would be free (i gave up on GuildWars). It's what is stopping me from buying Age of Conan.

Maybe in an alternate universe. But in the real world. You're better off finding a better paying job if you want to play a proper mmo. :p

You don't seem to realize how this is impossible, most MMO's don't even make it out the door finished... they need to game sales and the monthly feees to even have enough money to finish the game (aoc is 30G installed) these games are HUGE and cost much more than other games to make. You also need to take into concideration that there are constant patches, class balance, pve content, pvp content, general player content, hardcore player content, leveling content, profeshion content and all sorts of other features that are added into the game far far after realease. That ontop of the fact that they need to pay to keep the servers up and running... there will never be a large mmo that is free to play... it isn't financially feasable...

In terms of AoC, I ****ing love this game I just wish I had more time to play... lvl 62 demo on stormrage, my name is Fugi send me a tell ingame if you wanna chat.
