I'm playing this Barbarian and specced into Berserk, and got loads of combo's now, thing is, I don't have enough room for all of them, and if I start putting them on all the extra hotbars, I wouldn't be able to use them effectively.. since I'm not gonna click them all the time ;(

(I tried remapping the hot-bars to my own keys but that won't work for higher levels)

You don't need them all. You really don't need more than 2-3 'sets' of combos (speed/direction based for overlap etc). That frees up your sidebar for abilities, which as a barb you can burn a lot. Then just rotate your base via hotkey depending on weapon.

I was just on my favorite gamer wallpaper site and found this wallpaper on the front page.

http://www.gamewallpapers.com/wallpapers.p...+Expansion+Pack

It's for the Expansion Pack, are they actually creating an expansin for AoC at this time,or is just wall just for fun?

I am wondering if anyone is still playing AoC.

I want to finish up my char, or at least get one character to 80 before I start Warhammer Online.

Anyone available to powerlevel me? I know you can do it within 2 weeks. That way I can do all the quests without issue, and enjoy the game, just faster lol.

lazy im shocked anyone still plays this game .... had great hope but the monkeys that they have making the patches are freaking beyond stupid

Whatever, it?s still a great game for its niche for anyone not satisfied with the typical MMO experience. Don't blame it cause it got more hype to be a 'WoW-Killer' than it should have by twitchy teenagers looking for boobs. You can't blame a game for being what it said it would be.

DDO gets the same stupid criticisms yet remains a superior game for its niche.

As far as I remember those twitchy teenagers were the developers of AoC.

Even disregarding the WoW-Killer status, AoC sucks ass.

I pre-ordered AoC and played it right around the release week, and until now I've got a problem with latency to their servers (not just me).

And I've had periods of an hour or two of good latency, but the game still sucked.

Warhammer is as bad as AoC, too.

I'm no WoW fanboy by any means, I played "a lot" but haven't touched it since Christmas, so don't say I'm biased.

Yeah. of course. I mean, it couldn't possibly be that your game taste doesn't dictate what game everyone else in the world likes... no...

AoC is the among the best MMORPG's out there at the moment, far ahead of WoW, better than WAR, though probably not as good as Vanguard, I kinda played myself tired of Vanguard though... but then I haven't played any MMORPG's for months now, while I still have a subscription for AoC, I just don't have the time, and I keep missing the Vanguard world, the size and variety it had, and the developers where doing awesome stuff there at the end before I left for AoC, like the dynamic global weather patterns/storms.

Though I'm not sure if I'd go back from AoC. AoC has a nicer story and game mechanics, makes you feel a lot more involved. besides I like the Conan universe.

So as some of you know AoC has a trial version now. I tried it out and I'm impressed with the game. The game shares many elements of WoW so theres not a whole lot to learn. I think I got to level 6 in like a half hour /played. Good game with amazing graphics but theres no one ever on.

I think the number of subscribers speak for itself.

Among the best - there aren't many worthwhile MMORPGs out there, so yeah it's one of the best, but it's like saying it's 5th best in the world ..... out of 5.

Here, I'd like to quote Adamb10: "Good game with amazing graphics but theres no one ever on."

So yeah, I beg to differ, it's a top 5 game out of 5 games, you're wasting your money and that's your choice.

Of maybe he just picked a bad server to play on.

And there's a shi..load of MMRORPG's out there. like all the crap NCSoft pushes out, Then Wow at the bottom of the barrel, and several SoE games, WAR and AoC at the top, and inbetween there's all the other mediocre crap like the FF games and a small truckload of Free to play games, ranging from crap to the upper echelon of mediocre.

I played this game last year a few months after release. I played it for about 20 days at which point I could take no more. The main reasons for my departure:

- Game changes dramatically after you get out of Tortage, What happened to the NPC's speaking the missions? It felt unpolished once you broke Level 20

- Not enough players on my Realm, or indeed any realm that I created characters on

- Having all the different zones of the game instanced... loading screens are a drag and take away from the immersion and it also felt like I was playing Guild Wars which instances _everything_ but hey guess what Guild Wars is free AoC is not.

- There were other reasons but its been so long I can't recall those right now. I know the price of the Sub was a little higher then I'd like it was like ?10.50 a month inc VAT compared to ?8.99 for WoW. And for a game that felt Beta I didn't think it warranted an extra ?1.50 over WoW

Overall I felt that the game introduced some very interesting advancements to MMO design I liked that the Minimap clearly indicated where your Quest objective was, I liked the graphical quality of the game, I liked the fighting aspect of the game. But even though it had these great things overall the game was not fun to play. I didn't enjoy playing it, it didn't feel like I was part of an epic adventure it felt like I was paying to play a single player game.

After the 20 or so days I cancelled my sub so I didn't get billed at the end of my Free play time and I boxed my copy of the game never for it to see the light of day again.

If it's still around in 2 years I'll fire it up and re-sub but I doubt it'll be around in 2 years. The developers of this game seem to lack focus, technical ability and generally look very incompetent. I noticed they are unable to deliver on almost any promise they ever make and that doesn't exactly give their user base trust in them as a developer. I wouldn't want to invest 8 months or something in to the game only to have them go bankrupt and lose my character.

I know a lot of people dubbed this game a WoW killer before it was released but really the game just sucks even if its not being compared to WoW (which has had like 4 or 5 years to be polished). The game was released way to early in an attempt I suspect to recoup losses in producing the game thus far and to beat the release date of Warhammer online. This was a big mistake in my opinion you don't serve meat raw and this game felt very undercooked in my opinion.

Although im no mmo expert, its not THAT bad as some ppl like to make it look. Yes it has lots of faults and stuff. Pretty much everything Vice said before is true, but that doesnt change the fact that it was insanely fun. For what its worth it was great time waster throughout dark winter months. Reason for that was combat system as pvp is one of the few things that attract me to mmos. And the fact that conqueror was and still is quite strong class when it comes to pvp. Havent played it for a few months as of now though as eventually it got a bit boring.

I don't enjoy this.. but.. lol

What's funny about their combat system crap was that they claimed it to be amazing for PVP, while it sucked ass, because people couldn't use it in PVP, they just hit thin air and landed the finisher on the target, that's like.. what the hell ? That's their amazing combat system ? Swing around like you're blindfolded and then hit the target once and then.. run ?

Game is horrible, I've read about the "new" patch and all, but like I said before, if they want to make this game worth playing, they need to do something amazing, like.. create it from scratch to eliminate silly bugs (or shall I say 'features' ?).

They tweaked the combat system so you can move and perform combos.

1) Its a single/mmo hybrid, changes are to be expected after the single player portion is over, such as voiceovers. Did you not realize this going in? No MMO has full voice cause there simply isnt' room to store it all.

2) Server consolidation is complete, populations are fine.

3) Just cause a game uses 'instancing' doesn't mean its Guild Wars and should be free. Thats just silly. Instancing is used due to the lore's world and the amount of detail piled into each area. Again, not a great surprise for anyone who researched before buying.

4) Sub is usual price in US, complain to the EU

Sorry to tell you this but the game just is not very good.

I wasn't saying that the game should be free because it uses instancing I was saying that Guild Wars offers instancing and is Free and thus offers better value. About the Voice Over stuff, why have it there in the first place only to take it away later. Seemed like a way to lull purchasers in with the free play month by the time thats over they are just exiting the tortage zone and that is when you realise its just a cheap MMO using Instancing to make up for a poor game engine.

And I really don't understand how the games Lore can somehow effect if the game is instanced or not. I'm annoyed at the constant loading screens moving from zone to zone. I'm sure it really says in the lore "And so Conan entered the forest waiting patiently for it to load in to Memory" pah-leez

Sub is usual in the US, why should I take it up with the EU? All the other MMO's manage to come around the same price point here why don't they lower the up-front cost like the others do to make up for the extra price?

When I was playing the game the servers had already been merged, it was still deserted everywhere I went. Although I would see perhaps 1 person or 2 people running past me in some areas.

I merely gave you the accurate answers to your post. If you still don't like it, move on. The game is actually quite good for those looking for what it offers (which is unique compared to the herd). There are numerous games that fit your criteria, stop complaining about a game that decided to be different. This game attempts (not always perfectly) things no other MMO tries which generally precludes most mainstream appeal.

I'm not surprised most people don't like this and that about AoC, I'm surprised that they continue to whine on and on and on cause it isn't what they thought it would be. Seems you judge it on your merits instead of its own. If I hate rap music, I doubt I'll spend a lot of time complaining there aren't any tasty guitar solos on that new album.

Don't start comparing it to music tastes the game is poorly executed and thus rubbish. If I want to point out the games flaws then I am free to do so. I cancelled my sub ages ago and I don't intend to return. I clicked on this thread and posted my thoughts after already seeing people doing so. I already said what I liked about the game but you completely ignored those when you quoted me.

Just look at Warhammer Online, it takes what was great about World of Warcraft and enhances it and does things that are unique like RvR combat just to name one feature. Conan however its like they took a Single player game and tacked on some Co-operative element.

And to say "The game is actually quite good for those looking for what it offers" you could stick that label on anything. I'm sure people who smoke Crack love it, doesn't mean its any good. Are you actually going to say anything relevant to the game that you see so fit to defend like a long lost sibling down on his luck by the docks or just spew this nonsensiquel babble hoping I'll go "oh yes you're so right I've been so wrong about the game this whole time". You make it sound like I got the game and set out to intentionally trash it. Which is totally not the case. I read all the reviews about it I paid way over the odds for a retail boxed copy I installed the huge 30GB of game files required and then I played it for at-least a month. And during that month I cancelled my subscription to other MMO's so I could concentrate on Conan and really get in to the meat of it.

I was dissapointed sure perhaps it was overhyped before release but ya know when I played it I actually said on a disscussion with the other staff at Massively.com that the game would have been a lot better had it been withheld a year. Obviously they wouldn't be able to fix the main pitfalls which are engine and/or game specific 'features' that I believe really doomed this game for me but still it could have done with another year of refinement overall.

Oh, because you say so?

Even the games own director (Gaute Godager) jumped ship because he wasn't happy with the game.

I tried the game, and I thought it started out pretty good I did enjoy it at first but once you get past the newness it's all pretty rudimentary and the issues I outlined are some very huge cracks. I honestly couldn't see the game lasting very long and that is an extra reason (among a few I detailed above) why I didn't want to invest my time in to the game only to lose my character eventually.

Just look at all the server merges and still very low population seen by myself and my friends who still have subscriptions to the game I would say it's not got enough momentum. Coupled with the huge lay-offs at funcom near the end of last year and delays for content coupled with just outright lies from the managing director to the community I mean seriously if your investing time in this now for years of fun down the line your going to get bitten by the reality bug.

I remember going on the AoC forums a while back and it was like a gorilla mob at Funcoms throat for delaying content atleast 30-40 pages long of people ready for blood. I thought that was pretty over the top myself.

Source on the director leaving for not being happy with the game? Which he allowed to release too early, I think its more along the lines he got replaced for this and more.

They have an expansion in development, They are throwing out updates, they have recently allowed the use of DX10 on live servers, seems they have enough subs to pay for all this work, eh?

This comment isn't intended at any one in particular, but it seems if its not WoW, or has a fraction of the amount subs WoW does, then in most peoples view an MMORPG is on the fail boat going down the fail river. Why?

    • Apple raises MacBook and iPad prices as memory costs surge by Karthik Mudaliar Apple has raised the U.S. prices of several MacBook and iPad models, including the MacBook Neo, which it launched for $599 less than four months ago. The company’s cheapest laptop now starts at $699, while some MacBook Pro configurations have increased by $300. The changes affect the MacBook Neo, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. Apple has not changed the hardware or storage included with these models, so customers are simply paying more for the same configurations. Here is how the new US pricing compares with the previous starting prices: Product Previous price New price Increase MacBook Neo $599 $699 $100 13-inch MacBook Air, 512GB $1,099 $1,299 $200 14-inch MacBook Pro, 1TB $1,699 $1,999 $300 16-inch MacBook Pro $2,699 $2,999 $300 11-inch iPad Air, 128GB $599 $749 $150 13-inch iPad Air, 128GB $799 $949 $150 11-inch iPad Pro, 256GB $999 $1,199 $200 13-inch iPad Pro, 256GB $1,299 $1,499 $200 The updated prices are already appearing on Apple’s U.S. online store. The MacBook Neo increase will probably attract the most attention. Apple introduced the laptop in March for $599, pitching it as a more affordable Mac for students and buyers considering Windows laptops or Chromebooks. It uses an A18 Pro processor and originally undercut Dell’s new $699 XPS 13 by $100. Following the increase, the two laptops now have the same starting price. The M5 MacBook Air has also lost the price Apple promoted when it launched in March. The 13-inch model arrived with 512GB of storage for $1,099, while Apple’s store now lists the MacBook Air range as starting at $1,299. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 chip and 1TB of storage has gone from $1,699 to $1,999. Apple has made similar changes to its iPads. The recently released M4 iPad Air, which launched at the same $599 starting price as its predecessor, now starts at $749 for the 11-inch version. The 13-inch version has risen from $799 to $949. The iPad Pro increases are larger in dollar terms. Apple’s 11-inch M5 iPad Pro now starts at $1,199, up from $999, while the 13-inch version has moved from $1,299 to $1,499. Both base models still include 256GB of storage. Apple blamed the increases on the rapidly rising cost of DRAM and NAND flash, which provide system memory and device storage. The company told Reuters that it had tried to shield customers from the increases but could no longer absorb them. “We have never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly,” Apple said. Tim Cook had already warned that price increases were coming. Cook said Apple’s existing component inventory had softened the immediate impact, but that higher memory costs would increasingly affect the company after the June quarter. Much of the pressure comes from the construction of AI data centers. Memory manufacturers are directing more production toward high-margin server products, leaving PC, tablet, and smartphone makers competing for the remaining supply. Apple has not said whether the new prices are temporary or whether further increases are planned. For now, the changes show that even Apple’s purchasing power has not been enough to keep the AI-driven memory shortage away from consumer devices.
    • Ventoy 1.1.16 is out.
    • This is a none story - these low volume Chinese models will always get new experimental features first because Apple and Samsung can't produce them in huge volume to meet demand.
    • Nvidia GeForce NOW gains support for Dark Scrolls, Empulse, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The final update of June for Nvidia's cloud gaming service GeForce NOW is now available, and it is touting support for six more games. The company is also drawing subscriber attention towards the summer sales kicking off across stores, so they can stock up on more cloud-supported titles. Of course, the Steam Summer Sale is the biggest promotion, which is kicking off later today. "Supported Steam games can be streamed across devices with GeForce NOW, making it easy to buy a game once, keep progress synced and pick up where the gameplay left off on PCs, Macs, handheld devices, phones, TVs and more," says the company. "In other words, the Steam Summer Sale brings the deals; GeForce NOW adds the flexibility." Don't forget that the GeForce NOW summer sale is still active as well. This limited-time offer drops the 12-month Performance membership from $99.99 to $64.99, saving members $35. At the same time, the 12-month Ultimate membership is currently going for $129.99, dropping the price by $70 from the original $199.99. Here are the games joining GeForce NOW's supported list this week: Dark Scrolls (New release on Steam, available June 22) SAND: Raiders of Sophie (New release on Steam, available June 22) Deer & Boy (New release on Steam, available June 23) EMPULSE (New release on Steam, available June 24) The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales (Steam) FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves (Steam) With the June expansions coming to an end, Nvidia should be announcing its July GeForce NOW plans next week. Keep in mind that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass or EA Play, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via Nvidia's cloud servers. There is also a limit to how many hours subscribers can use the service per month.
