So if this is the case then why doesn't ms just release an update with a switch to toggle/untoggle the command menu or whatever they call it so that people can use classic with it looking half descent again then? lol or does that make too much sense?

Well modding the shellstyle works.. Just mod the C:\Windows\System32\Shellstyle.dll instead :)

Yeah, ms should have put one option in Organise > Layout to disable the folderband.

There is one feature missing that was present in Windows 98: Folder size in status bar. I want to know how big the current folder or a selected folder is without having to view properties everytime I wanna know folder sizes.

Actually, it's called the Command Bar. I think I'd know :)

Any hack to remove it is unsupported and may cause you problems down the road. I'm surprised that anyone would want to get rid of it, since that's where the view controls are. Are you turning on the classic menus instead? I guess I'd like to know the impetus for wanting to get rid of it, since we could always consider making that an option.

how about making it pop up when you press some key? like "file" & "edit" pops up when you press alt

i think it would be cool, because i don't really need to see it all the time, just like the folder sorting tab.

explorer would look much neater without them just sitting there
