It looks like our coverage of the Gamer's Day is now almost done, so we decided to reencode our Killzone 2 footage with the best quality possible. Full 720p resolution and better deinterlacing/deblending helps quite a bit to see the little details everywhere. I'm sure the numerous fans of the game will be pleased!

Watch the gameplay, the game is smooth as, and it looks awesome! The trailer clip (first link above) shows off some nice stuff as well.

Think this is the best looking game on a console to date, and it still has 9 months left in production!

After watching the videos, what does everyone else think?

Not as good quality as the above captures, but it's nice to see the intro :D

Yeah, because tons of blur, bland textures and sophisticated lighting is impossible to do.

Wow you make the graphics sound just great :D

Sorry, but I don't think anyone can diss the graphics here on a console, especially of a game 9 months before release - Which for whatever reason does still say pre-alpha. The game isn't eye popping on the colour pallet side of things, but they look great.

As for "blur", it's more fast moving things going in-and out of focus, something I've not really seen any other game do. Watch when reloading a gun, I think it's a great effect.

I don't think so. It is looking to be a slightly better Gears of War and for a game almost 3 years into making, this is expected. I guess by the time it is out, GoW2 would have surpassed it easily?

The game has never had a release date before. People said 2008 but the developers never confirmed anything. It would be tough on the RFOM2 developers to put both these titles out within a month, they are competing against competition from other platforms, not themselves - However I doubt many people will care about that, and just go slap some diss towards Sony due to the game not coming out in 2008.

As for the graphics, say whatever you want, but I've certainly not played anything FPS wise on a console that looks MORE impressive than this.

feb 09?

I tought this was going to make it for the PS3 in 2008 :\

Reminds me of the PS3 song ... "killzone 1 .. sucked before .. so what made you think we wanted more..."

Not to be biased or anything .. but delayed .. again? sigh

For it to be delayed, the developers would have had to have given us a release date. They didn't. Its not delayed at all, its finally been given a release date.

I have no doubt that this game is going to kill. It has looked incredible since it was unveiled. Too bad its still so far off though the Playstation could really use an exclusive killer app sooner rather than later, I think announcing it that far off is going to disappoint a lot of people, I know I am.

am I the only one noticing that the smoke in the first screenshots (the ones that look like real gameplay) is being rendered at half the original resolution?

Did you miss the part that said that its not set to release till feb NEXT year?

From the pictures, it doesn't really look that impressive, but i am gonna have to see it running at 720p to judge it, some GoW pictures make the game look bland but when you actually see it running its Jaw dropping (at least back when it was released)

Uh well watch the videos then, there is 3 links to them :p

I agree KZ2 looks great.

But it almost felt like I was watching COD4 gameplay. Aside from the weapon looking/sounding the same, It too has the same monotone color look to it. That's always bugged me about games. Probably a reason I was never drawn to Gears of War. Oh, and from what I could tell the voicing sounded similar too. Big rough necks for lack of a better word. Seems to want to appeal to Americans? I dunno. It really should have its own style and look. Yes, yes its still about a year away, so here's hoping they make proper changes. Graphically it looks top-notch.

The colours are what you would expect from the location during a war though, are they not? I agree, its very grey, but I think it looks and feels superb.

    • Being on GitHub doesn't make something safe. Like any unofficial scripts to do x or y this caters to people with just enough knowledge to be dangerous. If you want to do what this does, and you actually know what you're doing then write your own script (or maybe just add the reg keys yourself) if you don't have the ability to read and understand what a script is doing, and especially don't run it with elevated privileges. Or in this case just use an MSA, sign up the normal route, and stop trying to push water up hill
    • Dude get a clue, LTSC is Enterprise, not even legal for consumers, and ESU is not mainstream support cycle, just an extended security updates period.
    • Nvidia is your issue more so than linux itself. I did used it for a while with an old 1060 3gb, but using propietary drivers was kind of messy.
