I agree that it ought to be legalized for certain proven, medicinal purposes. I think the government is stupid not to honestly.

the government isnt stupid.... marijuana is the foundation of the whole War on Drugs anyway. w/o that, they have nothing.

Marijuana is a Schedule I drug in the US, yet cocaine is Schedule II. Go figure.

Well, from my personal studies on this matter, i've found that smoking bud with a headache will amplify the headache x5 but it is however really good for tooth, oral pain.

Thats why every time before I goto the dentist, I just get really high, like I mean really, really high :p

Apart from that to +Lt-DavidW if you want sources, just goto GrassCity forums and there is a thread on this there, much larger and fully documented with all the links to the Universities, Research centers that conducted the tests. There list is huge.

And to whomever countered "in its natural form" arguing that bud today isn't in its natural form, I hope you know the main reason its a-lot stronger because of the quality of soil etc these days... For example banana's are also more potent these days, as are other organic crop. That being said, they do mix strains to try and create an ultimate chronic beast bud (Cannabis Cup anyone? :p) but that doesn't mean its not natural anymore... There are many, many, many different strains of bud, different types eg. Sativa, Indica etc. The list is basically endless, they cross bread them do a-lot of things to them. But overall the bud is still natural, its not like they put chemicals or anything into it. Thats basically impossible, the most they can do however is (if you buy it from some cheap *******) spray it with flyspray (or so I hear, its never happened to me).

Err, I'd be able to give a much better explanation of the types and strains and what they do to make it stronger but honestly I forgot, but I've read it before and if needed I could dig up the links :)

Another thing I've noticed from my personal research is that bud appears to reduce short term memory, ALOT! But that isn't permanent and I usually become a fully functional human again after having stopped for a week, or two for ultimate functionality, I feel like Iron Man if I stop smoking for like two weeks, its awesome, but I also like getting high :p

^ Watching a documentary a while back called "The Drug Years" the War on Drugs was started because the mexicans started coming into America and they enjoyed bud, whilst the Americans hated the Mexicans so to **** off the Mexicans they outlawed bud, thats the governments reason for it being illegal today. Not much more.

i got both insomnia and lower back pain, so i got an excuse

anyway -- it's better weed than alcohol. both fun and health wise ..

what really happens when you smoke alot of pot? nothing, except for maybe you need a little more to get high

here's a movie about what happens, actually (imo its pretty crap tho) -- Super High Me

maybe it shouldn't be legal (as well as alcohol shouldnt then, as it's more harm), but it should be decriminalized at least

california is a good example i guess, selling it to only ones with prescriptions

I think it's important to acknowledge that cannabis also has negative effects too. It certainly isn't nature's cure-all drug.

Numerous respiratory ailments including lung disease, bronchitis and emphysema.

Linked to psychosis and schizophrenia.

So-called "gateway drug".

Just balancing this argument....

I agree that it has negative side-effects. However, I must disagree about it being a gateway to other drugs. The reasoning behind that claim is shoddy at best. Using the same reasoning, one could claim caffeinated drinks are a gateway to marijuana, which is a gateway to pills, which is a gateway to crack; ban Pepsi and Coca-Cola! People should realize that marijuana isn't the gateway; the drug dealer is the gateway. I remember my dealer, from years ago, pulling out different stashes, trying to persuade me to buy that stuff. Some of my friends purchased, some of them didn't, and I always declined. I still decline on using other drugs because I've never had an urge to use them. Heck, I even avoid using Aspirin if I don't need it. (Regular headache? Avoid it. Banged my head on a 2x4 board so hard that my head is throbbing and bleeding? Take it.) The "marijuana is a gateway drug" argument doesn't stand to scrutiny; it employs the "correlation equals causation" fallacy.

We need to fully legalize. This debate over weather it has medical applications is stupid. The drug is much safer then cigs or alchohol(-A POISON). There is no reason it should be illegal. It's my right to do what i want.

The only reason it is a gateway drug is because you have to get it from a drug dealer. If I could buy my weed from the gas station I would never have EVER been put in a situation to do any other drugs. But because I have to go over a dealers house to get weed, other drugs are available, or could be found.

Its only was made so illegal back in the day by cotton lobbyists and what not. You think if we could grow hemp would still have Dow Chemical making our synthetic fiber clothing? not a chance. Hemp is so much better and stronger, better in every way for the world.

Legalization would destroy some industries, but would also create over 20billion + more if taxed sololy from current pot smokers. Not including all the other applications of MJ. Not including money saved from prison population, ect. The drug war could target real drugs.

But Cannabis its now hard to find in its natural form, most if not all the Canabis you find on the streets its been a modified to make it stronger.

It hasn't been modified any more than the same kind of selective breeding used over the past few thousand years to produce every plant and every animal you've ever eaten.

Numerous respiratory ailments including lung disease, bronchitis and emphysema.

Actually, emphysema is up to debate. Cannabis smoke doesn't affect the same parts of the lungs as tobacco smoke, and as such, doesn't seem to really contribute to COPD or emphysema.

Two Books I read in School (and no I am not lying, my friend had them in class and our teacher being the Canadian he is said it's a free country)

all i can say is that i fully agree with you.

'nother reason why weed is a gateway drug -- smoking/having it makes you a criminal anyway, so you don't really mind having something else aswell. besides that -- hemp should be viewed differently from other "mind altering" substances, as we use it as it comes out of ground. everything else is man made crap
