Only games I've used cheats in is all the GTA games. I find it a lot more fun to complete the missions by cheating and they are still a challenge. It can get too frustrating without cheats and that isn't fun.

Other than that, I've only used cheats in single player games that unlock something funny, not that help me win. I would never cheat in a multiplayer game. Where's the sense of achievement when you cheat? Without that it isn't fun.

Bottom line is I do whatever is most fun because that is what gaming is all about.

Halo just isn't fun until you play through with infinite ammo, no reloading, infinite shield (and invisibility) and full radar. :p

I use cheats sometimes, based on how I'm playing the game, I played through HL2 normally then went through it again with god mode and all weapons (and fun console commands, like creating NPC's and such)

I don't play games very often, but when i do get into one, i tend to try to beat it or get as far as i can w/o cheating.... if i tire of the game, or get frustrated about not getting past a certain point, i may use cheat codes. Usually its either if i'm fed up with the game or i've played it so much that its generally boring..... if i've beaten a game w/o cheating, then playing it with cheats is sort of like a reward.... since i've already beaten the game, i might as well cheat :p

I have made this rant before - but here I go again:

I go to a shop, I see a game - for arguments sake "Super Mega Fighter 1000". I think 'That will be a laugh, kick my mates asses at that'.

Herein lies my mindset - I buy games to have fun with my friends, not to take on a console in any form of battle for supremacy - I take no joy in beating a computer / I take great joy in taking the mickey out of my boys while we enjoy beers, pizza and multiplayer games.

So I look at the game and it boasts 30 characters. Sweet - I can kick their asses as a girl - HUMILIATION!

I get the game home, the boys pile round and we find 5 characters to play with. WTF? The box mentions 30. I paid for 30. I want my 30. So I find a cheat to unlock the content that I have paid for.

I thank you!

The end of Far Cry was impossible, so of course I used a cheat code there. *shakes fist*

u just didnt possess the god like power which is required to complete that level!

took me soooooooooo long to complete it, i needed the sniper to take out the jumping things, and so many bullets to shoot the fat monter things, in the head, ahhh, good times!

I use cheats because I hate repetition in games. If I have to repeat something over and over again, I get tired of the game and stop playing it. And that's a waste of my money.

If I buy a game, it's so I can finish and not play the game of repetition.

The money cheat for Sims 2, I think, improves the game as it leaves you free to explore all the other aspects of it. Sometimes I decide not to use it, and you get a different game - the choice is good.

Generally I find that cheats ruin the game and I think for online multiplayer games they are just rude. I have however used an online guide to give me the odd prod in the right direction for Pokemon - I got stuck for ages - but I felt all dirty and wrong.

I try to hold off using cheats, but if I really need to, then I would. Though after using my first cheat I would probuly gradually use them more and more often lol, seeing as the harm is already done.

GTA4 is the first GTA I haven't/not going to use cheats in! lol. Besides, they are a lot more complicated in this one, usualy you could just do the button combinations and you would have more health/armour in a second.
