My sister just bought a wifi dongle for her pc and went to install the driver from the cd it came with, and found that the usual popup didn't appear once the cd was inserted. I had a look and noticed that the dvd rom drive isn't even showing up in 'My Computer'.

In my n00bness, I just whacked a spare usb CD-RW drive in, guessing that the dvd drive in the pc was somehow borked. Guess what, that wasnt detected either.

I had a quick look in device manager and they're both showing up with the yellow exclamation mark, and mentioning something about a corrupt driver. For both, which I thought was a bit odd.

My first thought was a virus, but a quick scan didn't show anything..

I'd mess around with it a bit more if I knew what I was doing, but I really don't and I'm totally out of touch with windows anyway - since I've been a mac user for the past few years.

Any help greatly appreciated.
