Cara Veteran Posted May 11, 2008 Veteran Share Posted May 11, 2008 http://www.pixelmator.com/ Great catch, wonderful program. Since I started using Pixelmator I find Photoshop far to slow and clunky for everyday tasks. TonyLock: Just one of the many perks to using Mac OS X, they have written a program which is top of the line and using the unique features to Mac OS so there is no need nor incentive for them to port it to another platform. suspiria
I love finally having Rulers and Guides. Makes a HUGE difference. The only thing I use Photoshop for anymore is Save for Web, which I hope is coming soon to Pixelmator. CPressland
This application is slowly replacing Photoshop for me, it's truly becoming a monster of an application. PyX
Wow, they took a god damn while to develop the initial app, but now they're really quick at adding those missing features. I really like their interface, and the speed of this application compared to Photoshop, but there were a couple of missing features that made me keep a distance from this application. osirisX
After using the CS3 interface, I could never go back to having 50 bajillion palettes floating about. Even if they are HUDs. +Gary7 Subscriber² Posted May 11, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted May 11, 2008 It seems to me that they can open up an entire new market if it would work on PC's. There are more PC's than Mac's around. More users =more profit $. From what I have seen it beats the heck out of ANY Windows app. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/636332-pixelmator-12/#findComment-589392551 Share on other sites

More users =more profit $. From what I have seen it beats the heck out of ANY Windows app. As was posted before... Pixelmator harnesses the full power of Mac OS X. It takes advantage not only of Core Image, Open GL or Automator, it also supports, ColorSync, Spotlight and many other technologies. Pixelmator was built exclusively for Mac OS X, and it shows. Pixelmator was designed and built for Mac OS using exclusive technologies and is not an application that would be easy, or worth wild, to port to Windows as it would reduce the ability to maintain the original platform and it's status as the premier design program for Mac OS. I normally would recommend that users interested in Piexelmator or any other OS X Application should consider upgrading their technology experience to a Mac! :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/636332-pixelmator-12/#findComment-589392559 Share on other sites
d4v1d05
Why don't they make a PC version of this? A PC version? So it'll run on Windows, Linux, Unix, etc? They all run on PCs... Yes, it'd be nice if there was a version of it that worked on PCs as a whole... Just like everything else. On a side note, does Aperture work at all on a macbook? It will work great on your MacBook, it isn't far off my 2.16 Core 2 that I got a long time ago. ;) As for Aperture, no, it is not Officially supported due to integrated graphics, however if you do a little it of searching on the internet you never know what you might find instructions for............ giga Veteran Posted May 11, 2008 Veteran Share Posted May 11, 2008 Aperture works on a GMA950 but I don't recommend it. It's heavily GPU dependent through Core Image. Use Lightroom as an alternative. Let me put it this way, it will install but the way Ap. is configured, you will not get optimal performance from the stock configuration and some AppleCare reps flat will not support it because of display driver incompatibilities with older versions. That is what I mean by Officially supported. :) However there are PList changes you can find online to change or disable certain features which present a very usable experience on any Intel Core Mac. d4v1d05
Why be annoyed over something so anal. Why not, it's a perfectly valid thing to be annoyed about. People refer to "Mac vs. PC," even though Macs ARE personal computers... some of them are also workstations and servers, as are IBM clones... I have a Mac and an IBM clone which is running Windows XP and slackware 12... So my PCs are running 3operating systems, but software for "PC-only" won't run on my slackware installation, or OSX... Cara Veteran Posted May 11, 2008 Veteran Share Posted May 11, 2008 Ohh, you mean "supported" not "it wont work full stop." Thanks for clarifying...
