I'm a big fan of Banjo, but I just don't like this new art style. The graphics themselves look pretty good however. And what's with all these vehicles? I hope that's not the unique gameplay they were talking about.

and now I'm left wondering what the hell this game is. 3/4 of those images point more to the game being a racing game than a platformer with the exception of the one where banjo's tightrope walking. I'm sure it'll be the platformer but vehicles at least so far look to play a huge roll.

THe last few one of the actual vehicles even seem to have the vehicles specced out in terms of speed, weight, offence ect. So what are we getting here? A platformer or a mario kart clone? The maps don't exactly look like tracks either but more death match arenas if they are to be navigated in vehicles. I'd like either type of game (with preference to a platformer) but it sure looks like they are taking things down a new road.

Yeah, you're definitely right there. If anything it looks like it will be like Diddy Kong Racing with land, sea, and air vehicles. And frankly, I wouldn't mind that as DKR kicked some major butt. But at the same time I would like to have a true sequel to the Banjo Kazooie series. Perhaps the vehicles only play such a huge part in a multiplayer aspect of the game?

I think the planes might also lend some credit to the "360-mote" rumors: tilt flying controls.

They've been working on this game for years now. I don't think it will be just a kart racing game. CVG have shot down the rumours it is just a kart racing game.

I can see it being a free roam game like Jak III and the vehicles help you get around the massive world.

As for the racing thing I mentioned earlier. On closer inspection of this screen shot it looks like theres elements from previous games. Probably an opening world or a training area given how simplistic it looks. But if you look at the middle of the image maybe 1/3 of the way to the left there's what looks to be a bee enclosure as seen in the original games as a source of life. Furthermore right at the bottom in the middle that glowing yellow object to me looks like one of the jingles or whatever those multi colored animals you collected were.

For those who are thinking the game will be a racer, don't worry, its not.

"Reading some of the comments, it's nice to see that people think the game is quite pretty, but its definitely not a racer, which is what some people think it is," said George Kelion, community liason. And to those knocking the graphics, what are you looking for? Realistic? I think if they did it somehow different than it is now, it would have a Banjo style/feel to it anymore, and I think it looks fantastic right now.

Thanks to the newest issue of Game Informer there is now even more news about Rare's newest 360 outings. Now as for Banjo, there's going to be over 1600 parts to find and use, note finding is back and is the game's currency, and Rare says that they really wanted to avoid making a hi-res old Banjo game. Banjo Kazooie 3

- GI says their first vehicles was a 4 wheeled kart with a spring attached to the bottom that allowed them to jump things. They later found a helicopter blade that allowed their kart to fly. Later they added balloons to the vehicle and put the blade on the back and created a hovercraft.

- Rare showed them a vehicle that was a monster truck that was able to detach its chasis to become a mini bike. When the bike ramped off a cliff it revealed collapsible glider wings and started flying.

- The town is called Showdown Town.

- GI says that despite the large focus on vehicles it still features platform elements from the previous games like traditional platforming, tight rope walking and jiggy piece collecting.

- Showdown Town is 16 times larger than anything Rare has created before.

- Every level has a different intro. Nutty Acres begins with a credits spoof of 80's soap opera's like Dallas.

- Rare says there are 15 different challenges spread across 6 different levels. There will also be side missions.

- You can always jump in and out of the vehicle editor and come right back to the game with the new design.

- Parts are easily placed and moved around. You don't have to worry about connecting the motor with the wheels for example.

- "Vehicle designs can play a large role in missions. We saw one where you had to collect coconuts from a field and got a small truck that could suck them up. Unfortunately you couldn't fit all the coconuts in the truck and had to back and deliver them in a large barrel. We were then shown how you could create a helicopter with a hook, that could pick up this large barrel, fly to the coconut field and fly low to scoop the coconuts in the barrel."

I won't post all of it, stifler got most of it, but I will put a few things in there. The name is officially Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.

A poster, who appears to be from Danish gaming site GameReactor writes that vehicle creation is similar to building with LEGO blocks, that players can edit their creations at any point. The poster explains how a truck creation was incapable of delivering the required amount of coconuts to finish a level, but that a helicopter more suited to coconut carrying was. In other words, if coconut schlepping is your thing, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts will fit the bill.

I think the vehicle thing will be different, but I'm glad they aren't just doing the exact same thing (100% at least) as the original two. Either way though, people will complain about the vehicle innovation, or complain because its the same as the first two. :p

Banjo-Kazooie 3 is to be suffixed Nuts & Bolts and will let you dynamically build vehicles as you collect parts around each level.

That's according to the increasingly famous poster called SolidSnakex on NeoGAF who has listed the entire contents of an upcoming Game Informer preview. Rare declined to comment.

Banjo-Kazooe 3 is Xbox 360 exclusive and is said to be among the first Rare projects to be solely developed for the platform from the outset.

Because of this, Rare wanted more than a high-resolution Banjo platformer, although despite the large vehicle focus there will still be plenty of platform elements like tight-rope walking and "jiggy" piece collecting.

An example of the vehicle tinkering given in the Game Informer piece was a four-wheeled kart with a spring attached on the bottom that allowed it to hop over things. This later had a helicopter blade added that enabled it to fly. Then it had balloons added and the helicopter blade put on the back to make it work like a hovercraft.

There was also a monster truck vehicle that detached its chassis to become a mini-bike which, when launched off a cliff, stretched out its collapsible glider wings and started flying.

Rare is apparently aiming at around 1600 collectible parts and weapons with which to customise your rides. You'll have to collect notes to act as currency so you can buy vehicle blueprints.

The main area will be Showdown Town that is apparently 16 times bigger than anything Rare has made before.

Each of the six different levels will have a unique introduction, such as a spoof of an '80s soap opera, and there are around 15 challenges and side-missions spread across them to keep things fresh.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is due out this Christmas period.
