My video card is BFG Tech GeForce 8800GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3.

I've had my card for a while and haven't had to many problems with it. I just got RivaTuner to check temps and fan speeds. Under idle the core temp is about 74 degrees Celsius but under load it hits up to 100 degrees. That seems really hot to me and was wondering if its normal?

If it isn't normal will it hurt my card if it stays at 100 degrees or go any further, what's the limit?

Also the PC case I have is an Antec P182

Thanks :)

Put your fan to 100%

My 9600GT runs at 43C idle. But I understand that the G80 core runs hotter, I think 74C is really high for idle.

What are you ambient temperatures?

Sorry 74C idle is with fan speed at 60%, under load the fan speed goes to 100% where i see 100C. My ambient temps are 61c Idle and around 76c load.

Put your fan to 100%

My fan speed gets set to 100% under load.

Also i just went into a game and my load temp only went to around 80-85c. (up and down).

Hmmm..

To me it's too high, but acceptable from Nvidia's word (from what I remember anyways).

If your case temps are high to begin with, then you won't get that much cooler but increasing the fan's speed. If the room is hot to begin with, then I can understand why your video card is hot.

You happen to know the case temps and CPU temps?

Here's a quick screen shot i took when i was playing portal today and I know I said 100C, that was in a different game.

Also I seem not to hit 100C in any games anymore. So I guess it was just something weird that happened. I don't know.
