Joey Ravn
Yesterday, when I first turned on my PC during the afternoon, I noticed that Google's main page loaded, but I couldn't use the search engine at all. I typed my entry on the search box, hit "Search", but the page got stuck in a loading cycle... I left it loading for a couple minutes, but nothing happened. Today, I reinstalled FireFox from scratch, deleting EVERYTHING related to it (bookmarks, add-ons, etc.). Now Google seems to work when I open FireFox and search from my homepage (Mozilla's Google page)... but after a couple minutes of surfing the web, it stops working. Everything else, every single other page I try to load, works perfectly fine. As you imagine, I really can't live without Google, as I use it for almost everything. I've tried using SuperAntiSpyware, NOD32 and Ad-Aware several times -- detecting some threats -- but it didn't change anything. Is there something I can do to fix this? I'm being driven nuts by this situation! Thanks in advance. Edit: Now I've noticed that I cannot use ANY search engine I know of... Not MSN, not Yahoo, not Google, not anything, not even with IE... This is completely insane! Please! I'm begging you! Help me!! Yusuf M. Veteran Posted May 13, 2008 Veteran Share Posted May 13, 2008 Wow, I don't even know where to begin. This problem is very weird. Normally I would've suggested scanning for spyware/malware, but you already did that. I'm sorry but I am stumped. Hopefully someone else can help. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/636676-problems-with-firefox-google-in-xpsp2/#findComment-589397747 Share on other sites

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted May 13, 2008 Veteran Share Posted May 13, 2008 When you deleted everything to do with Firefox, did you delete the profile? I don't know if that would make any difference because the profile contains bookmarks, add-ons, browsing history, etc. In any case, you can create and delete profiles by running this command: "firefox -profilemanager". Yes but one can delete bookmarks and extensions from the options and not touch the profile: Anyway if he ever comes back the profile is located: Operating System Profile Folder Path Windows Vista/XP/2000 - %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/636676-problems-with-firefox-google-in-xpsp2/#findComment-589397794 Share on other sites
