i have the non-WHQL version of these installed and theyre stable, but about 10% slower in my benchmarks. i say "who cares"

I have a Geforce 7600 GS and this would not install on it.

I got an error that said there is not a driver on this machine that is compatible. I then looked at Nvidia's website and this release is not posted there. Their latest is the 169.25???

Well these drivers say they support the 7 series, plus inside the INF file your 7600GS is listed so i dont know whats wrong.

Might give these a go, been using the drivers that came with my 9800GTX, so there's probably improvements here.

Go have a look at laptopvideo2go.com and see if there's already a modded INF file for these. That's what I'll be doing to get them installed on my laptop (a 7300 Go) which will almost certainly not be officially supported.

Yeah, I should've said; I know you're not on a laptop Gary7, but nonetheless a modded inf should solve that above problem, and laptopvideo2go has always been my source for modded infs, desktop or laptop.

Ha! Sorry. I think I may try again tomorrow. I am done with this for today. Maybe it has something to do with todays updates from MS or SP1. I don't know.

If you do their auto-search or insert another graphics card version it will give these drivers. I get exactly the same and I'm using the 32-bit Vista WHQL 175.16 driver package and trying to update my PNY Geforce 7600GS to no avail.

I'm used to seeing the word "forceware" in the installer but I don't see it here.

Anyone any ideas?

NVIDIA Dropped the Forceware name from the 174.xx and above series...They simplified their drivers, meaning GEFORCE DRIVERS for Geforce cards , NFORCE DRIVERS for Motherboards.

I upgraded from buggy 163.x, and I can safely say I'm not getting any gpu issues now :]
