Firefox Ultimate Optimizer 1.1

Question

I came across this little application http://firefox-ultimate-optimizer.en.softonic.com/ and I was amazed as to how could this little application reduce the memory usage of FF from 70MB to merely 467KB :o

I tried it, and it actually does exactly what it states but how Is it possible..?

I personally find it a bit dodgy, either it hides the actually memory usage or something else.

what's your verdict on this chaps?

Here is what it claims to do

"Firefox Ultimate Optimizer and it's a small tool that drastically reduces the browser's craving for memory and CPU. The program doesn't have any configuration options and can only be set to launch with Windows if you have admin rights on your system.

Once launched, it will simply sit on the system tray and perform its task in an incredibly efficient way. Just open the Task manager window and see the difference between running Firefox with or without Firefox Ultimate Optimizer.

I have one single complaint: I'd like to be able to hide the system tray icon. But I guess that's a small detail that can be added that to the Wish List for future versions. In all, this is an excellent Firefox companion that makes me love my favorite browser even more."

69MB :p

have reservations about using this as if it was as simple as whatever method they are using (and it appears to have been out for a while) surely Mozilla/Fx dev team would have incorporated it by now, as its a known issue of Fx

I'm just using on my test machine for now because it just sounds fishy to me, until someone can prove it that its legitimate.

and by forcing it to dump firefox's cache onto the slower Pagefile firefox will operate slower, this sounds like another cache type optimizer that hurts performance,if it were around in the win9x days it would be useful as the memory management was horrible.this is pure junk and should be removed.

Firefox Ultimate Optimizer Free Download

* The file will be downloaded from an external source

* Availability of external links cannot be guaranteed

* The download link from the publisher's site appears to be broken

* The file is always available through Softonic's Deluxe Services

How convienient....

Only wanted to download it so I could send it off to be malware scanned.
