I have to agree with what looks like a similar opinon. For me season 2 has so far been the best. The whole chase upon Dexter kept me wanting to see the next epsiode. This time around, it's been a little sterile, maybe I wanted to see more action from Dexter himself, It certainly made me sit up from Episode 10 though after the rooftop confrountation. Other than that, meh I was getting quite disappointed.

Now Sunday can't come soon enough!

I keep getting the feeling that Dexter is going to get caught next year. Slips of the tongue, couple of high profile kills. Everyone close to Maria dies. Seems like they're going to start thinking the Bay Harbour butcher was never caught after all.

Miguel began to annoy me. I'm glad he won't come back for another season. I found Season 2 way too violent. - the Friendship this year, this season seems to strike a good balance.

Dexter Boss Speaks to E!

I just got off the phone with Dexter boss Clyde Phillips, who tells me: "Some of the blogs were disappointed [in the finale]. Not enough blood. They didn't want any subtlety. We stand by what we did, and we did a good job."

Frankly, I couldn't agree more. But why did the third-season finale go down that way, and what will happen next?

Clyde gives us the exclusive scoop...

Why the "happy" ending?

We didn't want the ending to be the way it's been the first two years, where the audience was expecting that whatever the problem in Dexter's life would be dispatched in the last episode in some wonderful, high-energy resolution. We did that in the episode before the last episode. Then we allowed the audience to think, 'Oh my god! (A) What is going on, because this isn't the way Dexter is going to end, and (B) What the hell are they thinking of? What are they going to come up with?' So it was a conscious decision to kill Miguel Prado in the second-to-last episode.

And the wedding does seem a fitting end to a season that was all about Dexter's quest for normalcy.

Yes, it was about the normalcy, with the omen of the blood dripping, and the message that nothing is ever right in his world.

So will next season be a sitcom called It's Dexter! with Rita, Dex, the kids, a laugh track? Or will the darkness return?

[Laughs.] No, the darkness is always going to be there. It's his curse and his blessing, and it's our curse and our blessing.

When do you start plotting out season four? Do you have a theme?

We're going to reconvene the writers room in February...There's not so much a theme as there are obvious things we're going to have to deal with. Dexter's going to be a married man, he's going to be a father, he's going to be living with Rita and three kids. He's the most private person?television's only favorite serial killer will be living with a family. One of the biggest threads you left hanging is that Deb is looking into her father's affair. Will she find out Dexter's brother was the Ice Truck Killer?b>

Those files are sitting on Deb's desk waiting for her to look at, and all I can say is that storyline will not be ignored next year.Any chance Jimmy Smits may come back? After all, we have seen Dex's brother and father after their deaths. Or is that door closed?b>

I think it's more closed than open?we've had no discussions about that. You mentioning it is the first time I've ever heard those words. But I loved working with Jimmy.

Yeah, I agree. I think, maybe they're leading up to Rita finding out? If they follow the novels, Deb at least finds out, but of course this season didn't take after the novels at all, so who knows?

What I thought would happen is after King cut Dexter's hand, he would drop a bit of blood and they would find it.

Thought the season started out a bit slow, but it finished nicely. Next season will be interesting :)

Yeah I thought the same, I want next season for Deb to learn a bit more maybe a bit about Dexters dark side because I am sure near the end they will have Deb know the truth.

I hope something serious comes up like the Bay Harbor Butcher, something that really gets Dexter on edge and worried. Love watching him to try hide who he really is. LOVED the dialog between Dexter and the skinner. He really knows how to get under peoples skin and does it so calmly too. Obviously its acting but so awesome to watch.

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
