NOD32 Going Nuts!

Question

Hey,

This morning I decided to do a scan with SUPERAntiSpyware.

During the scan, this popped up;

367GRIDVirus.png

I figured it was a false positive and moved on. During the scan it popped up around 4-5 times,

3 times saying it was during the SAS Scan and one time while I tried to open Fireworks.

When I tried to open a file in Fireworks, NOD32 Popped up and said it had found a virus in Fireworks.exe.

My Computer crashed and I had to reboot. Now I'm at the desktop, opened Firefox and this popped up;

2544AdobeVirus.png

I closed Firefox, waited 2-3 minutes, when this popped up;

7903Adobe2Virus.png

When I closed that, the first "Adobe" one appeared yet again ...

Is my NOD32 going nuts here or is my Computer being overrun :p

I never downloaded any dodgy files, I always have Comodo running to block out unwanted files, have a fully updated version of NOD32 and scan weekly with different spyware software.

So I'd deem my Computer safe, but why would so many different false positive appear, even after a reboot?

What's going on?

Definition update - 3120 - tagged files as viruses like Comodo

3121 - (you might have to manually update) will fix those problems (it did with me)

I also got a program module update which could have also fixed it?

thank you, that solved it! now I have to reinstall COMODO.

Yes, ESET issued a problematic automatic update today.

Spent about three hours at work fixing up the mess (more than one computer got affected), the problem was that if you received the update and had to reboot afterwards for some reason, we didn't get back into Windows besides in safe-mode. After some trial and error, the solution for us was to go into safe-mode, uninstall NOD32, reboot, and finally reinstall NOD32 in "normal mode". :(

Part of the time needed was obviously because we thought we were affected by an actual virus outbreak until we discovered posts at the NOD32 forums.

I managed to save most of my software but the Adobe installation is lost (I choose to leave everything alone, NOD32 did this).

Too little, too late. Just uninstalled NOD32 from all my computers.

I know it's harsh of me to judge it on this but I can't rely on something that goes haywire on every little app after one little update.

It not only messed up Adobe installation but I did some tracing .. I had 2 complete PC hangups .. related to NOD32.

Also .. on multiple computers .. I saw that NOD32 would just hang it's own GUI for no good reason.

Been having this problem for 2 months now .. no longer .. bye bye ESET...
