WinMX Problems?

I have been using WinMx as my first choice file sharing program ever since the downfall of napster and have found that the community and the program has become better and better. Recently thought, over the past few months i have found that i am getting less and less results for my searches and it is increasingly hard to find a match who is not queued. A search where i would have used to get 100s now only gets 10 or less. Are users leaving the network? or are they having server problems as it seems that if i log off then on i can get a different set of results.

Any ideas anyone?? i am finding it increasingly hard to stop my self from moving to the (inferior) KazaaLite

I tried WinMX and found it crappy. Had so many less users then Kazaa networks i found.

Im a Kazaa Lite user so im being of course biased and dont know the amount of users on WinMX.

But im online now in Kazaa networks and there are 4,772,117 Users online sharing 848,589,378 files.

Now thats alot of files.

If you want Kazaa Lite, go HERE to download.

You can download latest 2.0.3 versions or like me, use the 2.0.2 K++ version.

Anyway, wish you luck with your question, sorry i cant answer but maybe look for new alternative if you aint getting the results.

yeah i have been using KazaaLite a bit recently but i found that whilst it was good it wasnt as powerful as winmx,

for the past 2 weeks.. when i connect to winMX at first.. i hardly get any search results.. and cant get any files to resume...

simple solution has been to d/c and reconnect it... works fine then.. not sure why.. but it does for me at least... same just happened this second as i connected it..

well when i first started using it there were loads of users and hits, but they have steadily reduced, its a great program , works a helluva lot better than KazaaLite

how is WinMX superior to kazaa lite??

i just find that the program is a lot more powerful, more options etc... ive been trying out kazaalite for about 2 weeks now and there are a lot of things that i cant do with it that i could with winmx

WinMX I find is great... are you guys using firewalls or routers or anything?

here are some suggestions to tweak your winMX...

1. If you are using a BB router or some sort of firewall either disable it OR if you are paranoid (like me) 'port forward' to the UDP and TCP ports it says you are using in the settings section of winMX...

2. If you Dl's are slow your ISP MIGHT have capped the bandwidth on that particular port... knowing that a file sharing porgram is using these ports and lots of traffic is going thru them they cap them so search results and or speed is affected. So... WHAT YOU CAN DO IS CHANGE THE PORT TO ANOTHER NUMBER (MAKE SURE IT IS NOT BEING USED BY SOMETHING ELSE) a good rule of thumb is to just put a '1' infront of the existing port numbers.

You can also cap your own upload bandwidth... but why do that... it just slows down everyone if everyone does that...

For resons like what I listed above is why WinMX beats out Kazaa... it is so customizable, you can change the settings on ANYTHING...

where as Kazaa has one setting for all! not to mention it is simply eyecandy!

WinMX it is ugly but it is great!
