i agree the ep felt unfinished, and to be honest didnt really add up to anything (just another filler like ep) ... i want a new story arc damn it!! .. give me something to look forward to, not just these 1 ep mini-stories, that really dont give the viewer much to look forward to..

top 2 things i didnt like at all..

1. ending with replicators in space again .. come on how un original, and it will probably bite them in the ass .. aka the last time replicators were left in space (they want revenge)

2. data on many advanced civs .. come on give us something, argh!!!

sg1 had multiple stories that drew on many eps, and branched in other complex story arcs, and some even went over many seasons... and they were interesting and entertaining. Atlantis, as much as i long the characters, this season is seriously lacking in the long term story development area, theres hardly anything going on right now, and its like the writers are out of ideas and dont know where to go..

Stargate Atlantis will end this season

The show will go on, though, with a 2-hour movie that will air on SCI FI in 2009, and be released on DVD by MGM. The film will be written by executive producers Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie.

It's intended to be the first of an on-going series of Atlantis movies, according to the report. Stargate SG-1 has released two very successful movies direct-to-DVD this year (Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum), though neither has aired on U.S. television yet.

"The show will live on as a network franchise," the report also says. This could indicate that future Atlantis movies are a lock for SCI FI, or it may be a general statement about the cable network's commitment to the Stargate franchise.

Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper, who created and executive produced Atlantis, pitched a third television series in the 11-year-old TV franchise to the network last year (story). While SCI FI has not yet announced a green light for that show, the end of Atlantis may clear the way -- the dollars available for original programming, that is -- for the next series.

Though Stargate Atlantis has been a solid ratings performer for SCI FI -- and was its highest-rated original program ever when it premiered in July 2004 -- in recent years series like Eureka have supplanted it in the "Live" ratings.

Atlantis remains an extremely strong performer in DVR-delayed viewing, though, often building as much as 25 to 30 percent on its premiere night audience.

Season Five will go out on a cliffhanger, with "Enemy At the Gate" expected to premiere in January. Expect the first Atlantis movie to wrap up that hanging storyline.

I wonder if they have any plans for any other series? or just movies now?

The Powers That Be have been planning a new show, Stargate Universe. They said they didn't want to produce both Atlantis and Universe at the same time since they had a hard time when SG-1 and Atlantis were both running at the same time.

However, there's no news as to whether any television networks (i.e. SciFi) will pick up Universe.

Hahah good riddance, Atlantis had loads of promise exploring the Alterrans and they just dumbed it down and introduced a load of rubbish enemies, i got fed up every time the Genii turned up after they got beat constantly. Im gonna miss McKay, Zelenka and Dr Beckett but im not sad to see the rest of the cast go.

Hopefully they will concentrate on Stargate Universe now.

God whatever Sci-Fi. You suck worse than FOX when it comes to your shows. The channel must be run by monkees or something, idiots.

Trust me, it's run by single celled organisms. Ever see those "iF" commercials on Sci-Fi? Well... if only Sci-Fi would die...

Damnit, why do they have to can another StarGate series. Oh well. Perhaps the next StarGate show will be better.

Because it was doing crap in the ratings, they pay millions and millions to produce stargate, if they arent getting the returns they want of course they are going to cancel it, its not like the story was really going anywhere, the wraith/replicators/genii stories were all stagnant.

What shocks me is that they continue to show Ghost Hunters or whatever that damn show is...

You're telling me that a show about spirits and cameras recording strange signals is going to stay on versus

a show with actors, special effects, and romance? Oh well

I actually find ghost hunters quite good but maybe sci-fi should create a new channel specifically for tv shows like Stargate or X-Files re-runs.

    • They aren't going to want to. Most would just go with the 17 Pro and save money. Why would they want to spend $300 for basically the same thing? It's not worth it if there are hardly any changes from year to year.
    • 24H2 rolled out to the Release Preview Channel in early June 2024, so this coming a bit later in the Experimental Channel (formerly Dev) doesn't really say much more than earlier H2 releases that came out in October. I am not sure what the thinking is here by putting it in Experimental, one would think that the 26H2 stamp means features are locked down and it's now bug tested until October? I don't even pretend to understand Microsoft's strategy for Windows Insider Program though
