Just reinstalled Ubutnu 8.04 and I'm back to loving Linux. I had been messing around with OSx86 for a while and there wasn't really anything that made learning the intricacies of a new operating system worth it. The novelty of running OS X on my Dell was great but with no wireless support and huge problems getting my graphics card running and the amount of time I spent fixing problems just wasn't worth it. When you consider I get full hardware support out of the box and can configure Ubuntu to emulate what I liked most about OS X then which is better for me is obvious.

Clean (I covered up anything that could have been considered NSFW)

Xfce

Xfwm4 (Katiola WM theme)

Theme is Nova-Blue

Running Fedora 8

I set workspace margins up so I could access the desktop menu without a panel button while windows are maximized.

I found the wall on 4chan when I was bored one day.

Oh and does anyone know how to change the layer that the Xfce panel appears on? I looked round on the interwebs a bit and apparently that option was taken out to improve focus management or something. Is there a config file somewhere I can edit to get around that?

Wow Primo Turbo, that is one kick-ass combination of metacity+gtk. I can't find the specific edit of the window borders, nor the gtk theme at all. Any way you'll share them? ty

I'm not finished with my desktop yet, I might post later in this thread.

It appears the filename of the metacity and the actual name are different. Here is the metacity - http://ebupof.deviantart.com/art/Shiftie-Bred-81324382

Clearlooks-colors contains Murrine Brave.

Well I guess you learn something every day, especially while using linux. I was trying to figure out how to get a good print screen with no terminal or other program showing with the ability to choose the filetype of the screenshot of it and stumbled upon ksnapshot, I recommend it to anyone who was in the same position I was in :p

Lets see your desktop :D You still on fluxbox?

Sure am. Fluxbox...

Switched from Fedora to (X)ubuntu a few months ago, but everything is pretty much the same for me.

Lots of Linux torrents seeding in Transmission (running decoration-less) and Pidgin is also running decoration-less. Those two apps I typically have pinned to all desks, though I don't switch desktops very much at all. Conky running as my resource monitor. The "messy" pic is how my PC typically looks. I have a few terminal sessions opened, and these I keep tabbed together in the same window. Not sure if Gnome's window manager allows tabbing like this, but the title bar is sectioned and clickable to display whatever docked window I dragged into the tabbing feature (you can tab completely dissimilar apps together, if you like). My wall is almost always some girl or another that attracts my eye, typically with exposed flesh. Good thing that the Transmission window is where it is. ;)

That desk looks sweet! Would you mind posting links to where you found your GTK and Metacity themes? I have searched google but can't seem to find the same ones.

^^^ Just for your info, you left the email contact info for "Jody" un-blurred. Not sure if that was an oversight, given your blurring of other such data in your screenshot.

Damn! She won't thank me for that! Thanks for pointing that out to me Mark, but looks like I can't edit my post now anyway.

I posted the exact links on the first page, a bit after my first post.

    • yeah it seems to be Edge only. The dialog buttons work as expected in Chrome and Firefox. The phone is using Android 16 (OneUI 8.5) and Edge version  149.0.4022.53
    • I'm not aware of this issue, but to help the other guys.  What version of Android are you using? Did you try a different browser? To see if Edge is the issue here.
    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article? Here is a better article so you actually know what is going on and answers questions you had in other comments --> https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/05/speed-boosting-low-latency-profile-is-one-of-the-improvements-coming-to-windows-11/ It is unclear if one will be able to disable the new profile at this point but I am not seeing any reason why one would.
