What is Spore by Maxis?

Spore is a multi-genre "massively single-player online game" under development by Maxis and designed by Will Wright. It allows a player to control the evolution of a species from its beginnings as a unicellular organism, through development as an intelligent and social land-walking creature, to levels of interstellar exploration as a spacefaring culture. It has drawn wide attention for its massive scope, and its use of open-ended gameplay and procedural generation.

What are it's system requirements?

Windows XP

2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent

512 MB RAM

A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

At least 6 GB of hard drive space

Windows Vista

2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent

768 MB RAM

A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

At least 6 GB of hard drive space

Mac OS X

Mac OS X 10.5.3 Leopard or higher

Intel Core Duo Processor

1024 MB RAM

ATI X1600 or NVidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100

At least 4.7GB of hard drive space for installation, plus additional space for creations.

Spore will also be coming out for the Nintendo DS and Wii.

The official site warns that the Mac disk space requirements for Spore are subject to change.

When is it coming out?

In the European Markets, Spore comes out on the 5th of September.

In the North American Market, Spore releases on the 7th of September.

As of today, Spore's Creature Creator Demo was released.

As it has been released on Mega Upload, it may be pulled down at any time here in the next few days, even though it officially releases on the 17th.

I will host it on my servers if it goes down.

I've given it a run, and it works beautifully (with no viruses!):

You can find the Creature Creator on various torrent sites. It's the trial version with 25% of the parts, so it's no warez.

It's an exe,.. since I don't know if it'll work on mac, you could give it a try.
