The Official Spore Thread

No, you won't be able to use these creatures that your creating in the real game but as soon as the EA registration servers go back up (17th) we'll be able to register and upload our creature designs to a central server. Then, when the game gets released and people make it out of the "tide pool" phase and into the "creature" phase, the game will automatically download creatures from the server which users have created in the creature creator. The game will create a valid ecosystem with a sensible mix of carnivores and herbivores (the demo only provides carnivorous mouths but herbivorous mouths will be available in the full version of the SCC). Your creature in your world will have evolved from choices you made in the "tide pool" phase and each time you go through a new generation, DNA points (the currency of the creature creator) will allow you to add more parts. The creatures that people create through "evolution" in the real game will also be uploaded to the central server and used to populate other peoples worlds and galaxies. This is why it is called a MSOG (Massively Singleplayer Online Game).

Thanks for the update.

Thought I'd post my critters that I've made so far.....

post-31592-1213646951.png Starcraft Zerglings FTW  (although I think they may have 4 legs  , I'm not sure)

post-31592-1213646988.png My vicious predator the CarniHug,

post-31592-1213647076.png A weird skinny insecty thing with wings,

post-31592-1213647036.png and of course the always wonderful Barney the Dinosaur :p

As it has been said, it's not part of the game but the creatures created by everyone will be available in the full Spore game.

So you can't actually create your own creature in Spore and then play the game? If this is correct, I think I might not buy this game. :$

Doesn't this come out for 360 as well?

No. Will Wright has said that it only translates to the Wii and DS properly.

Will the Creator Creator be part of the Spore game?

The Creature Creator, the 10 dollar version of it.. will create characters for anyone and everyone to use, and be creatures for the Sporepedia!, and to that effect, yes, you can use them in your game.

The creature creator, from what I understand, is part of the full game, but your creatures in the game are through an evolution from single-cell upwards and the final look will change as you add and remove parts whilst playing...

The recently released Creature Creator is a stand-alone thing designed so that when you first put the full game in and install it, your world can be populated with life made by others, afterall, it'd take a LOT of work for the dev's to be expected to make million's of different critters to populate everyones world's.

Cheshire Cat is spot on, there will be a similar screen in the real game but you won't be able to make the creature suddenly from scratch, it'll be a matter of adding and removing parts each generation (a bit like evolution except its guided by you and not natural selection).

is anyone having issues sharing their creations? ive done 4 in the past few days and only 1 has been uploaded today

just for me it only seems that i can share 1 animal per game run, if that makes any sence

    • Steam Next Fest returns with thousands of new demos to try out by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Valve has been routinely kicking off demo festivals on Steam for years now, and the second drop of 2026 has just opened its doors. It's a great opportunity for any PC gamers to find some interesting games before they release. The June edition of Steam Next Fest is a week-long digital festival including gameplay slices from a large number of indie developers, though a few major publishers are involved this time too. Interested players can use the Next Fest hub page's various sorting and filtering options to easily sort through the hordes of demos available. The top buttons offer quick access to separate and important sorting options, including "By Genre, By Theme, By Feature," with each one offering more granular settings when clicked. At the same time, the built-in Steam tags system is also available below every page to discover new games more quickly. As always, logging in will also enable Steam gamers to utilize Valve's recommendation algorithms to find game demos they might like, specifically, depending on their past play and purchase histories. This time there is even a toggle now to swap between getting a random and personalized selection as Valve collects more data on the available demos. The Charts section is where you can find the most popular demos on the platform right now, offering up the most hyped titles in a simple list. Right at the kickoff, Mistfall Hunter, Empulse, Echoes of Aincrad, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Over the Hill, Mortal Shell II, and more are trending. Expect this list to change as the week progresses. This edition of the Steam Next Fest is slated to end on June 22 at 10 AM PT. Valve's latest event is now open, and it can be accessed by going to the dedicated hub page here.
    • I lived and breathed MSN Messenger/Windows Live Messenger. Going to the mess.be website (still online with no changes since 2013) to download display pictures etc. I was a beta tester for Messenger Plus! and spent quite a lot of time on the MsgPlus! forums (a read-only copy is still online at https://shoutbox.menthix.net) Some old Neowin articles also https://www.neowin.net/news/messenger-plus-350/ good times but how time flies The main developer of Messenger Plus!, Cyril aka. Patchou has released a game https://store.steampowered.com/app/3275440/Pluralys/
    • Well i'll look into a docking station if needed and use that.    Normally i don't usually have all the drives connected at once,  usually once a month to sync the latest files, and then they go back in there storage area
