Firefox has a 256x256 application icon for Vista. But the HTML icon's the same old 48x48 icon from XP, and it really looks out of place on Vista. Want to use Firefox as your default browser on Vista but can't stand that ugly icon? Here's your fix. :)

I've quickly whipped up a Firefox HTML icon that uses the Vista style. It only contains true colour alpha blended icons - no 256 or 16 colour icons here. Comes in sizes of 256x256, 128x128, 48x48, 32x32, and 16x16.

Download the patch here or as an attachment (see below). Extract all files to your Firefox folder (i.e. C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox), close Firefox, then run Patch.bat as administrator. (It will clean up after itself when done.) To reload the icons in Explorer, follow the instructions here.

Tools used:

IcoFX

Vista icon replacer

Photoshop

Thanks everyone for your comments so far. :)

That is really nice, you should submit it to Mozilla for inclusion in 3.1

Edit: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433688 Somebody has already submitted an icon, but I prefer yours.

Feel free to go ahead and submit it if you guys have Bugzilla accounts. I think I had one before but it was on my old ISP email. For these icons I simply extracted the blank icon out of imageres.dll and the app icon out of firefox.exe, then merged them together.

If you guys care about the 32x32 icon please redownload the patch. In my opinion Microsoft poorly downsampled the 32x32 blank icon and made it too blurry. This was the old icon:
