Buy MacBook from overseas?!

Recommended Posts

Was going to get mine from the Refurb Apple Store but I got my MBP off eBay. I was very hesitant because it was a Buy it Now option from Montreal and I'm in Ottawa (2 hours away). I checked his feedback and he had sold about 20 MBPs all with great feedback but I wasn't convinced so I messaged those people and they told me he was legit.

So in the end I got a factory sealed MBP for $524 less than retail.

I picked mine from India itself. There is a difference of 600$ For Macbook Pro. I got it because of warranty. A friend of mine got his macbook from Hong Kong and sooner after the dvd writer conked off and Apple India didn't honor the warranty

it should still be under warranty from HK. Take it back there.

I'm very tempted to get the MBP in the UK. But the price diff is too much to justify buying here.

Get it send as a gift or sample. :)

Actually, Apple directly would not file the documents either way, they would need to be filled out 100% accurate to avoid possible fines or other consequences for falsifying the Customs Declarations.

True, Apple wouldn't do that. Smaller companies did it before. You can always have someone buy it for you and then ship it as gift. :)

I have been asking around on eBay lately if they could write it off as a Gift on the customs declaration, but unfortunately many are reluctant to do so :(

And I have no friends in America

Try NeoBay, some people are willing to ship there. I also have to go to the US sometimes but I can hardly bring goods. Sorry.

    • BS, I've yet to run into a typical pc user that uses it at all, let alone half the population.

    • The site is pretty sparse on features / tech specs. Can I plug it into a PC/hone/Switch via USB-C and use it as an external display? If so, what's the virtual resolution of the screen, the refresh rate, PPI of the image etc? Is the text crisp enough to use for coding at say 12pt? Is it good enough for playing dark games, like say Path of Exile 2? How about fast games like car racing games? Just how do they expect anyone to order this thing without giving out all this info?
