JustGeorge
Big problem: I need to update the Synaptic Touchpad driver before SP1 will install and I can't get Vista to install the drivers for nothing. I've downloaded the newest drivers from HP and even newer versions from Synaptic and they all fail. If I try the Windows Update drivers they fail with error code 800703E3 The biggest problem here is that I can't roll back to the original drivers because they had System Restore disabled so now the touchpad doesn't work at all. Can anyone help? Vista 32-bit Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/644408-synaptics-touchpad-driver-install-fails/ Share on other sites
zhangm Supervisor Posted June 19, 2008 Supervisor Share Posted June 19, 2008 Vista should have generic touchpad device drivers. Have you deleted the current set, without installing an update, and then rebooted the computer? Then try installing SP1? JustGeorge
I can't get Vista to re-install the generic drivers either I'm afraid. The pad is completely dead :( I appears too be attempting to install the cached drivers it got from WU.\ FIXED After scouring the registry and running ccleaner, Windows installed the updated Synaptics Driver on reboot...Whew!!! Thanks for the hlpe anyways :) Edited June 19, 2008 by VRam Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/644408-synaptics-touchpad-driver-install-fails/#findComment-589496516 Share on other sites
