[Osx86] Installed Mac but wireless not working :(

Recommended Posts

I was very content after installing Mac (Kalyway 10.5.1) on my very old Compaq presario V1000 Notebook. I was amazed on how it worked on my system. Frankly, I was just trying my luck ;).

But, the wireless network doesn't work on it. I have a intel 2100 wireless card.. which I think 10.5 doesnt support.

So i was thinking of buying a cheap Intel 2200 card off ebay. But what I've heard is that no wireless cards work for any secured network. Im just confirming if this is true.

And, do you think I should get the 2200 card or any other card with which my system would work.

Thanks :)

Intel wireless cards aren't supported on Macs. Apple uses a broadcom wireless chip.

^That are a bunch of alpha/beta drivers for intel wireless cards on mac. However if you wireless is encrypted they will not work, as the way osx deals with encryption isn't 100% known as yet.

Don't mean to be a buzz-kill, but I'm pretty sure Neowin doesn't allow discussion on this subject. I would suggest future questions use the PM system, so as to make everyone happy.

Actually, per new policy Neowin does allow X86 discussions, however not regarding Pirated versions (Kalyway) of Mac OS X.

"Kalyway" is obvious warez.

The thread will be sterilized by staff, and references to warez removed. But the thread will likely remain open. If it is closed, the starter will be told to not reference specific warez, and will re-create a thread while claiming to have this issue with a purchased OSX CD.

Might as well just allow "kalyway" to be mentioned. It would be less work.
