[Series 11] Top Gear

Recommended Posts

After a six-month nap in the BBC garage, the irrepressible car jamboree returns for a new series. Preview DVDs were unavailable, but we're promised thrills of the "longer, stronger, faster and better" variety. Tonight, the trio set out to buy a "bargain-priced police cruiser," Jeremy Clarkson roars around in a Ferrari 430 Scuderia and the Reasonably Priced Car will play host to not one but two sets of celebrity buttocks, as Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr prepare to take to the racetrack. What's more, it seems there's a mysterious new member of the team, who, according to executive producer Andy Wilman, is "a bit like the Stig, but not like the Stig". Hold tight.

I think the new member is Sabine Schmitz.

It begins all over again

Radish?

A great episode, the modded police cars were awesome

Shame about the new member though, was expecting more - however Sabine was in the series preview!

Can't wait for the GT-R against the bullet train.

Radish?

The guest section was disappointing - Alan Carr was a retard and JLH thought he was funny when he just wasn't. The stunt thing was pointless as well.

I loved everything else though. The Scuderia review was a lot better than most and the police car section was brilliant, even if a couple of parts were obviously scripted  The news section was great as well... and a BMW M3 more fuel efficient than a Prius? Toyota got owned :D

Absolutely awesome start to the new series. The season preview at the start looked great - and yes I can confirm that we will see Sabine and the rest of the german TG teamlater in the series!

I have *got* to get tickets to get down there when they are filming. Anyone hear the Captain & Hamster on Chris Moyles earlier in the week (think it was Monday / Tuesday?)

Was fairly good - agree with some of the stuff said here though. Alan Carr just drives me insane - irritatingly camp, and unfunny. I always think the JLC is a good laugh though...

The police car challenge was a good crack definately but agree about Jezza - I was eyes open / jaw slack watching him trash that Fiat Coupe.

The Scuderia article was good but I do really dislike the constant insulting of car enthusiasts (being one myself) with a dorky accent and mocking interest in electronics etc. Way back, Top Gear watch pitched at car enthusiasts - car enthusiasts were the original fan base, and without them it wouldn't have ever got anywhere. To then mock the original target audience really gets my goat, especially when you know that Jeremy is probably every bit the enthusiast but just prefers not to let on, and instead talk about 'torques' like some total idiot.

Anyway - still a good start to the series. Can't wait for more! :)

What an episode, I really enjoyed it. I stayed home yesterday night just to watch and now they're showing it in the office all day long. Damnit!

I can't wait for the next episode. In the mean time I can watch Season 10 on national television down here.

    • I use it by choice but only for specific tasks that I have forgotten and it's quicker to ask then spend time wasted finding a decent answer on Google or coding a certain language. I prefer to use it. I do think that as it gets integrated into everything, when we eventually fully rely on it, I'm talking new gens not older gens like me, that we won't think for ourselves, I mean we will become lazy thinkers, lazy logical answer to problem which will go badly. But if we don't become fully dependant, we might be OK but I don't think personally we are going to be OK, not for the newer generations. Unless they advance in that space to the next level of intelligence where it can work out its own problems and create ideas for itself.
    • Pity the article on MS website gives no indication when said "20%" performance gains will actually be rolled out to users.
    • I just looked on my computer and there are settings and log files for utilities I have never even turned on!
    • O&O ShutUp10 3.1.1104 by Razvan Serea O&O ShutUp10 offers a simple yet effective way to take control of your Windows privacy. It provides access to almost 50 privacy-related tweaks, most of them hidden or not easily accessible to the average computer users. Using a very simple interface, you decide how Windows 10/11 should respect your privacy by deciding which unwanted functions should be deactivated. Using ShutUp10 you can easily disable Windows Defender, turn off telemetry, disable peer-to-peer updates, turn off Wi-Fi Sense, disable automatic Windows updates, turn off and reset Cortana and more. ShutUp10 allows you to create a System Restore point before you apply any changes, so that you can revert your system at any time if you run into problems. O&O ShutUp10 is entirely free and does not have to be installed – it can be simply run directly and immediately on your PC. And it will not install or download retrospectively unwanted or unnecessary software, like so many other programs do these days! O&O ShutUp10 Free and Premium The latest version brings O&O ShutUp10 Premium, expanding the app’s long-standing privacy controls with automatic enforcement of user-defined settings. Instead of manually rechecking options after every Windows update, users can set their preferred privacy configuration once—or apply recommended settings in a single click—and the tool continuously monitors them in the background. If Windows 10 or 11 re-enables disabled features or introduces new data collection paths, Premium restores the chosen settings automatically without user intervention. The free version remains available and fully functional for manual adjustments, offering the same core privacy controls for Windows. However, the Premium tier is aimed at users who want long-term, hands-off protection, adding automatic reapplication after updates, ongoing monitoring, and optional notifications to ensure privacy settings remain consistent over time.
