Get the HD 2600 XT. The 3850 is a better bet, but if your budget is really tight, the 2600 is next on the list. You could take the Nvidia 7600 GS into account too, but i've only spotted the 256 MB version in the same price range. In any case you need a PSU of at least 350W. What's yours?

I'm not sure. How can I tell?

250W SHOULD be fine...but then again I don't really know (I'm going with this on the assumption that you have a generic 250W). If it is generic, then I don't think it'll provide the max 250W you need. Maybe get a 430 or 500W Antec Earthwatts if you want to run a 3850? Would give you a bit of space for future upgrade too.

It's actually quite straightforward. You only need to attach the wires that you need, not all of the wires coming out of the PSU.

As for how much do PSU's go for, there are $20 crap PSU's that you don't want to $50 budget but quality PSU's (such as the Earthwatts I recommended) to $70-150 PSU's.

afaik the 3850 is the only DX10 capable AGP card :(

I'm going to have to wait anotehr fortnight before I purchase a 3850 as I just got my gas/leccy bill through, eek :(

If I get a card below 3850 am I going to have to worry about not having Dx10 support for games like d3?

Blizzard has said that D3 will not require DX10 already. However, almost all of the newer games being released will require DX10 support.

That's what we were talking about when we mentioned waiting to do a full system overhaul first. But then I realized that your 9800 doesn't work, so you wouldn't have a computer to use in the meantime.

It would work....my suggestion was to grab a temporary video card (really inexpensive one) just so you can have video for now and wait for the money to build a new system. But in the meantime you probably wouldn't be able to do much gaming.

I dont want a place holder card. I'm using an old 9800 card with emeory issues to just run day to day stuff. There has to be something out there that will run on my system that will enable me to play WoW and Obilvion. I doubt that my system can handle more than a 9800 pro.

    • I am not surprised because life is the product of a lot of biochemical and physical processes that releases various energies as a by-product. The only thing new here is the detection of these photon emissions. The researches noted this "glow" is not a metaphysical one. They don't even immediately end when one is dead. Things like fires, light bulbs, and on a bigger scale stars release a lot more "light" and they are hardly alive.
