Unreal Tournament III

Recommended Posts

I got the collectors edition when it came out. I'd say it was earlier this year.. maybe Feb. or March. It enhanced on the graphics quite a bit and added some new toys to play around with. I am a huge UT fan although have not played it as much because my gaming time has diminished.

Bit of a disappointment really. Looks very pretty but it plays too fast, more like the random, rage, infusing speed of Quake than the aerobic action of UT2004.

Biggest annoyance for me is that there's no server browser. In order to play a match with a mate he has to bring down the console and connect to me by ip! Which is insane bearing in mind that we've always referred to the UT series as having the best net code of any game.

I've had lan games of the original unreal tournament connected over a twisted parallel port cable.

Update - Sorry, didn't spot you were talking about the console version. It actually feels like it's been built with the consoles in mind so will probably be much better.

got both PC and PS3 version about 6 months ago, I intended to do map making for both systems but I found the game quite boring and is gathering dust.

I thought the UT2004 was hopeless and boring, and thought it was quite poorly done, but this version looks a lot more polished.

At the end of the day, you CAN NOT beat the original Unreal Tournament (PC), the gameplay was awesome.

/Gonna have to look out my pc version now, and give it a whirl...lol

So true, it's the only one I really liked and played like hell. I was still at the Uni. back then, everyone played it in the cs labs. Really awesome.

Nowadays I just don't feel like playing it anymore. I feel old

cheers, thats a pretty awesome deal

Sadly it looks like the 360 version will be the inferior one of the bunch as MS will not allow untested/unsigned umod's to be used in their version, thus 360 owners will not have access to some of the incredible mods out there :(

Heh, there isn't anything special about the original UT now days. Sure back in it's time it was awesome because there was only quake and counterstrike to compete with it.

Just gets annoying, it isn't like if you released the first ut right now it would do well. (Which is basically what ut3 is - a rehashed ut99)

arent epic supposed to be making some of the better mods *official* and putting them out as dl content themselves?

edit: where did u get that gamerpic?

Wasn't aware of that, but again that is a way of charging us 360 users for what is otherwise free content.

The Gamerpic is from the Wanted gamerpic content.

I don't see the problem. VERY few UT mods are really worth ****, and those that are only exist as mods for a short period before they're bought up and released as standalone games.

The good Small mods that still remain are few enough that most of them will be picked up and "officially" bug tested by epic and released through them.

MS stance makes the most sense here, a broken mod can cause a lot of problems, and the blame gets split half and half, with half going to epic and half going to MS... and very little to the mod creators, afterall it's the game/console that allowed them to make a broken mod

I suspect the only reason sony allowed it in the first place was to get more "cool" points with the gamers for allowing it, and partly because they need a few bonus points on MS And their system is allready wide open. By the PS4 though expect Sony to have finally made a solid enough online system to lock it up and force all developers to use it and follow their rules for using it, just like MS and XBL. The only reason PSN Compatibilty and central friends list support and all that isn't mandatory on the PS3 isn because it wasn't done at launch.

As for pricing, They may release the officially "signed" mods free, or require a small fee. wich would make sense sense bug testing and Q&A even for a small mod/mutator does require a lot of man hours.

    • Samsung Galaxy XR arrives in the UK with new AI and enterprise features by Fiza Ali Samsung is bringing its Galaxy XR headset to the UK several months after the device made its debut as the first headset built on Google's Android XR platform. The headset was first teased in late 2024 alongside Google's introduction of Android XR before making its commercial debut in 2025. Developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, Galaxy XR combines mixed reality experiences with Gemini-powered AI features, allowing users to interact with digital content using voice, gestures, and visual inputs. While the hardware itself remains largely unchanged from the version Samsung unveiled last year, the company is using the UK launch to spotlight several software enhancements that have arrived through recent updates. Among the most notable additions is deeper integration with Google's ecosystem. Galaxy XR users can explore destinations through Google Maps' Immersive View, receiving AI-powered recommendations and contextual information from Gemini while navigating virtual environments. Furthermore, entertainment experiences have also expanded; users can watch 180-degree and 360-degree videos on YouTube, browse spatial content converted into 3D, and ask Gemini questions about on-screen content without interrupting playback. Samsung is also highlighting mixed-reality features such as Circle to Search, which allows users to identify real-world objects through hand gestures while using the headset's video pass-through mode. Another feature automatically converts photos and videos into spatial 3D experiences. Moreover, the headset now also supports Android Enterprise, allowing organisations to manage deployments using existing Android management tools. Annika Bizon, Vice President, Product and Marketing, Mobile Experience, Samsung UK & Ireland, talked about the device, stating: The headset is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform and features dual 4K Micro-OLED displays. The tech giant says that users can expect up to 2.5 hours of battery life. Samsung also confirmed that Galaxy XR will continue receiving software and security updates as the company works alongside Google and Qualcomm to expand the Android XR ecosystem. Galaxy XR is now available for pre-order and will go on sale on 8 July. Customers interested in trying the headset before launch can visit Samsung KX in London and selected Samsung Experience Stores from 17 June. Finally, the company will also host a livestream on 19 June showcasing the headset's capabilities and answering questions from prospective customers.
