Rumor: Microsoft to show their Wii-mote killer at E3?

Recommended Posts

An inside tip that we have received from an anonymous user has told us that Microsoft will be showing their Wii-mote killer at E3 this year. The idea of the product is to match and better the capabilities of the Wii-mote. The controller reportedly features four face buttons, an analog stick, a microphone, and possibly integration with the Xbox Live Vision Camera.

It has been reported that Microsoft wants to release this by year end, so there is a possibility of this being shown at E3 or even the Tokyo game show.

Now we are not saying to take this for the truth because the person is anonymous, but if it comes true then however he/she (or alien) got the information thank you. I am looking forward personally to see what Microsoft has to offer at E3 other than games and there are reports of Sony doing their own Wii-mote killer, so we might even see that at E3 this year also.

E3 is going to be so much better than last years, I can tell you that.

Edit: Can a mod add "Rumor:" to the topic title? Thanks.

It's gonna be quite heated around here if both Sony and MS show these controllers, if they are indeed true.

IMO, regardless of what Microsoft release to compete with the Wii-mote, simply put, the Wii-mote has worked so well because it has, to put it frankly, the Wii and the games to go with it. The XBOX has always been the "hardcore gamers" style machine and never really tried to tap in to the market that Nintendo have been able to with the Wii. Never in my life have I seen so many woman want a games console. I know there are plenty online, but I didn't personally know any who wanted a console. Now, even some of my friends mums and sisters who wouldn't be seen dead with an XBOX or a PS either want of have a Wii.

Microsoft would have to take XBOX games development down an entirely different path if they want the "360-mote" to be sucessfull. Not saying they can't. I just think it would take the 360 down a different route that may do damage to it's reputation in the view of "Halo and Gears of War" style gamers in the future.

Not really. I doubt it's being designed as a replacement to the normal controller by any means. It's an additional peripheral and I'd be willing to bet that the majority of the games you see taking advantage of it will be coming to you via XBLA.

Oh, and at the guy who wrote this article: no crap :p

I agree, it will mostly be XBLA in my opinion also.

Lol @ your comment to the author, but hey some people might not have known.

    • IBM are good at announcing stuff, but not at actually delivering it... How many decades ago did they announce quantum computers, and here we are in 2026, with CHINA delivering them, and IBM still talking...
    • It sounds like you’re trying to rewrite a narrative to align this layoff with your political beliefs. Games can be horrible, whatever backwards notions you have don’t change that bungie has problems, mostly with just bad games, and arrogance. When they pushed Microsoft to let them be independent they lost their way. They hired on a bunch of people and they couldn’t justify the employee count consistent with their revenue.
