That Guy Veteran Posted July 5, 2008 Veteran Share Posted July 5, 2008 I don't usually make threads like this, but I'm not sure what I might do if I don't sort myself out. I assume everyone has their own way of dealing with emotional suffering, so what's yours, if you don't mind telling? _bobcat_ Veteran Posted July 5, 2008 Veteran Share Posted July 5, 2008 I might vent it initially - ranting/crying/talking whatever, but usually I prefer to skip this. Next I distract myself - sleep, reading, computer games - something that requires all of my attention. That Guy Veteran Posted July 5, 2008 Author Veteran Share Posted July 5, 2008 Thanks for the suggestions so far. I guess the only way out of this is to distract myself, but I can't see that working in the long term. Keep up the suggestions guys. _bobcat_ Veteran Posted July 5, 2008 Veteran Share Posted July 5, 2008 I guess it depends on the nature of the problem. If it is a recurring issue then I guess you need to take some action to improve things. If there is nothing you can do about it, then distractions can work long term to help you to live with it - or they do for me for certain things. Next I distract myself - sleep, reading, computer games - something that requires all of my attention. That only works to a certain extent. It's been 8 1/2 months since my ex-gf broke up with me. Despite distracting myself in every possible way I still catch myself thinking about her, missing her... I loved her (and still do) more than anyone before, and still have a difficult time to get over the loss. Buu
I go a jog and listen to music. That always clears my head. Just have to push yourself. Well yeah, I know it's not a perfect solution, but it's what I do (and works fairly well for me), which was his question. I know if my current relationship were to end then it would take years to get over it properly (I guess I'd be in your position). There have been break ups before, but I wasn't so attached, so the distraction strategy with some wallowing worked for me. revvo
If my schedule allows it, I'll go to the gym after going through a final exam. That way, if I'm ****ed about it, it will go all out on the weights  Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/647390-what-do-you-do-when-you-feel-terrible/#findComment-589534652 Share on other sites

brayan27
I don't really know, I get depressed for a few days and its downhill from there. so I really don't do well when things like that happen, I always try my best to stay away from it. sometimes speaking with a friend (not necessarily about that topic) makes me feel a little better. Typhon
I think it all depends on how you view life. I myself if I get depressed will try and clear my mind in a quiet room and relax for 20min to an hour. After that I am usually all better but it depends on the situation of course. Try and stay away from negativity and stress for health reason and to better yourself. If you feel that doing something may cause stress or problem try an alternative to it but then of course this is life some things are not avoidable and so try your best to get through it. Keep a clear head do not eat a bunch of food and stay relaxed. C++
Emotional suffering, eh? Either quit being an emo p*ssy and do something about whatever is bothering you, or, if that is not an option (which is really only the case if a death is involved), then keep yourself surrounded by people. Strangers work too. Basically just be somewhere where your mind will be focused away from your "problem." Time heals all wounds. So if you avoid from it consuming your mind for long enough, then by the time you start thinking about it again you will barely even care. former1
I generally see what the issue is, and generally try and find a solution to it. If you don't face it, it'll just linger there! If there's absolutely nothing you can do about it, then I generally go for a jog / run focussing all the anger / depression or what not into it... by the end of it I feel great. Stephen.
don't run away from it.face it head on and take it down I agree. If something's annoying me or making me feel terrible I need to sort it out before carrying on with life. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/647390-what-do-you-do-when-you-feel-terrible/#findComment-589535617 Share on other sites
